What is the most challenging route for a difficult but realistic approach?

Featured Replies

Gents, (and ladies)What would be a challenging approach and takeoff with the PMDG 747? What is regarded as a difficult route by real life pilots?Best regardsKjetil OlsnesNorway

I guess the most challenging approach for a 747 would be the IGS 13 at Hong Kong Kai Tak, but since ´98 the airport is closed. The Airport is still present in FS2004 and can be approached, although theres no ATC service

St. Maarten, TNCM is always good I find, water on both ends of the runway :D

If you run a quick search of the internet, you can also root up the actual approach charts for the DME approach to TNCM. Although the approach is both fun and spectacular when flown according to FS' ATC instructions, following the real approach chart into TNCM makes it fun, spectacular, AND challenging!Ruahrc

>While on the subjet of searching the Internet, a Google on>Dangerous Airports led to for example:>http://www.simtours.net/difficultapproaches.php>Lots of other stuff out there as well. Have fun!Good resource! Besides from the difficult approaches, it lists the weird places in fs2004 and some tips and free addons for aircraft carrier landings.Interesting!Cheers,Pedro Venda.

VNKT KathmanduVNKT sits in the botton of a 'bowl' surrounded by mountains. The mountains are between 4 and 8dme from the runway. Many of the SIDs and stars are via the 4DME arc. The straight in appr to Rwy02 is via a 4.7degree descent path on the VOR approach from 11500ft at 14DME through a gap in the mountains.Even better is the circling approach to Rwy20 that brings you out of a 180degree turn to a 1 mile final A couple of the charts at (unfortunately the circling appr to 20 incorrectly labelled and is not there) http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/ho...atm/sasfss1.htmBefore you go be sure to install the scenery from AVSIMnepal_fs9_v2.zip nepalmesh.zip Matt
