October 21, 200619 yr Hi EveryoneHave been out of simming for a few years and just getting back into it. Have been reading these forums here for a few weeks and finally made an informed decision to purchase fs 2004 over the newly released version as I dont want to upgrade in a years time to use new add on aircraft. Was familiar with 767PIC in FS2002 and now want to install PMDG 737. My new system includes a new Dual Core 3.4ghz with 2mb ram and Nvidia 7600GT graphics card and 19 inch wide screen monitor. My question is after installing fs 2004 fresh, what changes to fs setup will I need to make to get it running well prior to installing 737NG and the 800/900 upgrade? I notice people talking about fs9.1, is there a patch for fs 2004 I am not aware of? I will be of course reading the manuals on how to fly the aircraft I just wanted to get an idea of what I am likely to need to do to the sim prior to installation of 737NG. Any tips before starting these instals would be greatly appreciated. Best Wishes Tim Carter
October 21, 200619 yr Commercial Member This is probably better asked in Avsim's general FS9 forum... There's nothing special you need to do to run the NG, but there's definitely a whole slew of addons that will enhance the sim. I'll leave it up to others to tell you what those are. There is indeed a patch, which you can get from the Microsoft website... Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
October 21, 200619 yr You *will* need the 9.1 update. Download it direct from http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/e...607/fs91upd.exeThere is a Tips and Tricks forum at http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=177 Don't be confused that it is under the FSX banner - there have been some forum changes and some old threads were not moved.Shout if you need anything else. October 21, 200619 yr Hi Guys Thanks for your replies. Defragged the disc prior to instal of FS 9 and just installed the 9.1 patch. Will have a look at the posts you have pointed me to and look forward to being in the air soon. I notice that navdata that are on the install disc are likely to be old cycles. Is this new website that has the airacs already in service and I couldnt see how much they were, any ideas?CheersTim
October 21, 200619 yr Nothing wrong with the free 609 cycle from navdata. You can get the matching sid/stars from http://planepath.com/html/pmdg.htmlNavdata is still developing the sid/stars product and if you do a search on the PMDG forum you will find a good discussion concerning the new Navdata product and pricing.
