January 19, 200719 yr I have two questions. First, I was just wondering if there is way to modify the current 744s to switch them into ER or ERF models. Is there really much difference besides the increased takeoff weight and the cargo bay fuel tanks anyway? I don't need the extra tanks, just the extra weight to carry more fuel in the tanks I already have.Second, I was looking around at pictures of the 744 flight deck and noticed that the PAX had CRTs and the 744Fs had LCDs. Are there any 744PAX with LCDs out there? Just curious.Ryan GamurotLucky to live Hawai'ihttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg Ryan Gamurot
January 19, 200719 yr I think PMDG has addressed this topic before(the ER conversion)... Did you try a search? If I recall correctly, they pointed out that the fuel system logic is super complicated, and therefore, it's probably not a good idea to tamper with the fuel tanks and such.As far as LCD 744's in service, I've no idea.Daniel P.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpgMember of SJU Photography. January 19, 200719 yr Author I feel silly since I found that exact topic and a post made by myself. Maybe we can look forward to a ER(F) in the FSX version.Anyone else have answers about the displays?Ryan GamurotLucky to live Hawai'ihttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg Ryan Gamurot
January 19, 200719 yr Author I'm still looking around there. I only see the 744F with LCDs so far. But I did find an interesting photo.http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1099761/L/ Look toward the bottom of the image at the back of the pedistal. There is some sort of display screen back there. What is that?EDIT: I just found a Virgin Atlantic cockpit I looked at a few times and it has LCD displays. It was difficut to tell since the image was taken pretty far from the panel itself. But yeah, what is that extra display screen for in the above image?Ryan GamurotLucky to live Hawai'ihttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg Ryan Gamurot
January 20, 200719 yr Yes virgin replaced all their CRTs with LCDs about 4 years ago,I`m sure BA have aswell. They`ve stopped making and supporting the CRTs(or so we were told) so I imagine most operators have changed to LCD,which are a lot nicer.cheersJon 787 captain.
