April 8, 200719 yr I'm a little confused on the FMC cost index. On page 8-21 of the 737 manual under Cost Index it says "A cost index of 00 will result in the maximum fuel cost." Does'nt a low cost index mean a minimum fuel burn with the best range? Does'nt it also mean as the cost index increases, so does the fuel consumption and speed and therefore more cost for fuel? Could someone please clarify? Thanks. Tom
April 9, 200719 yr You're correct... a low index would be used if fuel costs were high, which would result in less fuel being used. SWA uses 33. Dan Downs KCRP
