April 9, 200719 yr I've been watching some 737-800 videos during final approaches and I've noticed that there're two call outs for minimums. The first one calls for "approaching minimums" and the second one for "minimums".On the PMDG 737-800 I hear only the "minimums" call out.Is the first call out not implemented or there's some way to activate it?It's weird that this call out is not included as it's very easy to simulate. I'm surprised, after seeing the impressive simulation done of this airplane, that the "approaching minimums" call out can't be heard.
April 9, 200719 yr Commercial Member Mike, that is correct, same on the MD-11. Not all airlines there have the "approaching minimum" callout.Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
April 10, 200719 yr Who needs approaching minimums??? Look out the window, the runway is getting closer. :-)Tongue in cheek of course!gmcallis
April 10, 200719 yr Commercial Member On our MD-11 Miss Douglas will do it ;) A good thing actually because if you don't know that she will call "minimum" you have no way of understanding that word the way she calls it. At least with "approaching minimum" you know that the next word you hear will be the one you need :)Regards,Markus Markus Burkhard
April 10, 200719 yr >Who needs approaching minimums??? Look out the window, the>runway is getting closer. :-)>>Tongue in cheek of course!>>gmcallisWell... If you can see the runway getting closer then you don't have to worry about minimums. The problem is that sometimes when you hear the minimums callout is still all white outside!!!So the "aproxim minimums" callout is good becouse prepares you for a possible go arround in a few seconds.
