I have seen in the Airbus ability to make descent at a given rate or flight path angle. I recently was looking at visual approaches into SFO in the PMDG database [runway 19L] and it mentions a flight path angle of 3 degrees and also it shows up on the FMC legs page as such.Does the 747 allow one to manage descent at a specific FPA and if so how? I only see vertical speed control.If not then what does the three degrees mean when displayed on the approach leg in the FMC for this runway?ThanksGreg

Greg,The B744 (also the real one) does not feature the possibility to select an FPA on the MCP. You're right the Airbus types allow this, so does the MD-11.Regards,Markus

What you can do though is turn on the flight path vector on the PFD (the FPV switch on the EFIS controls) and use that to see what angle you're descending at on the pitch ladder.

I will give this a try. This relates to VOR approaches. Still kind of wish that tutorial on PMDG 747 approaches mentioned a year ago would come out.I have not found anything on the web that will walk me through it for the 747 in particular. I undertand the concepts but how it translates to day to day practice is always the issue.Thanks,Greg
