October 31, 200718 yr I start a flight from KPSP after shutting down all the unnecessary services. In the Task manager I see 1.55Gig out of the Total 2Gigs I have.I go to the 2D view to get the FMC and what not and now the memory has gone to 1.75I am flying over Megascnery X So Cal to arrive at KLAX. I approach to KLAX to land.. I am all set and then Pop! It has busted the 2Gig and CTD.Anyone else running into this issue? What the heck happened to Virtual memory concept at the OS level?Any ideas how to avoid this in XP?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 31, 200718 yr Commercial Member Manny,Turn off the megascenery and see if it still happens. There's a fundamental limit to how much user address space you can have in a 32 bit operating system, it's not a matter of virtual memory or anything like that. It doesn't happen as frequently under XP vs. Vista because of the way the memory management systems and video memory handling happen in the two OSes, but it's still definitely possible to see it in XP if you push the machine too far. October 31, 200718 yr Author Hmmm...Interesting. Thanks for that info Ryan. But for turning off Megascenery (other than for checking this out) can't be an option. Without Megascenery..there is no Flight simming. But I may have had Gottfried's KLAX Downtown freeware which is pretty good high resolution downtown. That could be adding to the memory too.But tomorrow, I could have an addon airport. What then? It looks like we are busting at the seams!Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 31, 200718 yr Hello,Happens to me as well approaching KLAX with the PMDG 747.I'm going to test it with another plane and see.I dont have Megascenery but I do use cloud9 KLAX scenery and Ultimate Terrain.Test it as well, with other a/c, I got CTD virtual memory only with the PMDG 747.Dont know why ? havent figured that one...But it surely sucks if you cant fly any addons and fly this plane.Raam.
