FUELING THE AIRCRAFT 747X REALISM ??

Recommended Posts

Hello I have a question about the fueling procedures for the 747x. My question is why does the fuel fill up the tanks slowly like they are actally filling up like in real life? I mean hitting a switch in the PMDG 744 options menu to fill the aircraft with ex170,000LBS of fuel is unrealistic. I should be that a fuel truck comes to the plane and actually stats filling it with fuel maybee an AES implentqation. I sould take some time also like 20 minutes or more. My second question is can you set up the 744 in a way , that when you start a flight you start in a COLD AND DARK cocpit with all the systems and engines off,and i dont mean stating the plane with all the systems on and then loading a panel state . That would be very nice and actually meake the simulation more realistic. This would be a nice feature to the future update of the 744XThnak You for your time. Have a great PMDG DAY :-) SincerlyREVOhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpghttp://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u132/REVO321/lsd1.jpg http://www.captainsim.com/user/dl/b757/752_users_banner.gif

Revo,Well, I think the MD-11 is going to have an option where you can watch the fuel being added to the tanks, but in terms of realism, it's not all that important. What is important is that the systems of the aircraft work how they should do, and the dynamics of the aircraft are accurate. I don't think fuel filling is really needed. As for the second part of your question, if it's realism you want, starting an aircraft from a cold and dark all systems off state is not realistic at all. In reality, when you board an aircraft at the gate, the chances are it has external power, a lot of the lights are on and the flightdeck is already lit up waiting for you.. Packs are probably running too.. It would be rare to find an aircraft parked at a gate totally shut down.. as it would have just arrived on the bay from a previous flight. They'll have shut it down to a sensible state.. still powered.. and then left.. CheersCraig

And high-demanding.In FS9 it was just like that, pushing a button to refuel the a/c.And check out the forum rules if you find the time to do so, only 2 banners allowed.

It takes so long to refuel a real world 744 for a long flight,..1) the aircraft is usually prefuelled to a certain value before the pilots arrive (so it doesn't take so long for the fueller to finish fuelling... say 80 tonnes on a flight which usually requires 100~110 tonnes)... OR...2) a "provisional" fuel load (something very close to the final value)or a "final" fuel load value will be telexed to the engineers/refuellers and the engineers/refuellers will start fueling the aircraft well before the crew arrives at the aircraft. As soon as the pilots get on board, the engineers call the cockpit and basically ask the crew if they are happy with the fuel load or whether they want more. Normally there is very little/no fuel to be added... giving the engineers enough time to finish the fueling paperwork, and present it the flight crew to be checked (without causing a delay). If there is only one fuel truck available, it could take an hour to refuel a 744. With a simple flight plan, a simmer could take 10~15 minutes to get the aircraft from a dead ship to pushback... Why would the average simmer want to wait an extra 45 minutes to get his aircraft off the ground?Hope this helps.Cheers.Q> イアン

HelloI just thought that it would add more realsim . I does not have to take 45 minutes in the sim. Plus another thing to get the airplane ready for pushback it takes more than 20 minutes it usally takes close to 30 minutes when you have to actually enter each legg of the flight plan. Plus i use FS2Crew which is set to 45 block off time so actually they would have enough time to finish fueling the airplane. I didint mean to upset any one i was just asking because i know that they are implementing a similar theory for the MD-11. I thought that they could add similar feature for the future update for the 744X.Thank You for your time have a great PMDG daySincerly REVOhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u132/REVO321/lsd1.jpg

Hi Revo, I don't think a lot of people with a single PC screen will be interested in such an option. If we could use PMDG in a full cockpit enviroment this would be another story, as in there you have the possiblity to input a lot more of realisme (dark cockpit setup, ops papers, MCC etc etc)In such situation you are quickly 1 hrs in advance busy.B. Hi Revo,Didn't see your question regarding Cold & Dark answered. It is very easy to make any flight C&D. With the 744 loaded just shut everything down and then save the situation with the (semi-colon) key. Name it Cold & Dark or whatever you choose. Then any time you select the 744 just go to the PMDG menu option and Panel State and load your saved panel.Hope this helps.

"Plus another thing to get the airplane ready for pushback it takes more than 20 minutes it usally takes close to 30 minutes when you have to actually enter each legg of the flight plan."OK... I was working on the premise that I had selected a CO ROUTE from the FMC. And maybe I'm a little faster than the average person :( (Actually, I'd be a lot faster if it wasn't for those pesky IRS's)Cheers.Q> イアン
