Why the message "Cannot create file"?

Featured Replies

When trying to save a Panel State I must be making an error in the way I describe the panel to be saved as I can't get beyond the "Cannot Create file" message.Guidance would be appreciated.Cliff

Are you running Windows Vista?Regards,Jim Karn

Yup, Jim. I am. That a problem?

Then run Flight Simulator X in administrator mode. That solves this problem.Matyas Majzik

Thanks Matyas.Regards............Cliff

I've checked and find that the Vista setting is with me as Administrator.Any other suggestion Matyas?Regards,Cliff

You have to run FSX in administrator mode. Right click on FSX icon and select Run as administrator...If this does not solve your problem then probably you have to reinstall FSX and PMDG with UAC off and with admin privileges.Hope this helps,Matyas Majzik

Do you have UAC turned off? What folder do you have FSX installed to?Regards,Jim Karn

This happened to me too. Was nothing to do with UAC, it was 'cos the folder that contains the flightplans etc had been moved to a data disk. It MUST reside in C:Usersxxxxxxxxx

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

Bingo! Thanks Matyas. Right clicking on the FSX icon to launch as Administrator solved the problem. With my regards,Cliff
