September 14, 200817 yr Commercial Member There are a lot of things wrong in those pictures... it looks like your configured for take off.Why do you have the no V speed prompt on the speed tape? Your thrust is not ARMED it's ACTIVE (SPD)You have ALT HOLD selected. It looks like your trying to fly it like the default aircraft.I would suggest having a good read of the documentation.CheersRob Rob Prest
September 14, 200817 yr Author allright! But do you ALWAYS have to disarm the A/T before touchdown?Roar
September 15, 200817 yr Author why is it different landing the 747 from the 737NG? the 737NG deploy speedbrakes automatic at touchdown when speedbrakes are armed. Roar
September 15, 200817 yr Commercial Member You need to understand the difference between ARMED and ACTIVE, you can find a lot of info regarding this in your documentation. The simple answer is A/T 'can' be armed at touchdown.Rob Rob Prest
September 15, 200817 yr Author OK maybe this will clarify it - do you have to switch OFF the A/T switch at touchdown to deploy the speedbrakes and reverse thrust?Roar
September 16, 200817 yr "why is it different landing the 747 from the 737NG? the 737NG deploy speedbrakes automatic at touchdown when speedbrakes are armed."Not all Boeings are created equal ;)The autothrottle MUST be disengaged BEFORE landing if you are not using the A/P to land, otherwise, in "SPD" mode, the aircraft will try maintain the target airspeed in the MCP airspeed window and won't pull the throttles back to idle.Note that there is a difference between 'disengaged' and 'disarmed'. With disengaged, there should be no thrust mode buttons illuminated (i.e. the light in the SPD button should not be illuminated).Try programming one of your joystick buttons for a "soft" A/T disengage (see manual for instructions)... and use it during your final approach. This will disengage the A/T, but leave the A/T switch in ARM.When you manually pull the throttles to idle before touchdown, autospeedbrakes and autobrakes should activate. And you should be able to manually activate reverse thrust. Hope this makes sense.Cheers.Q>P.S. You should also have Flaps at 25 or 30 for landing.
