The tutorial fails to mention that you should hit the FMS speed button (on the autopilot panel, under the speed dial) either right before takeoff or shortly thereafter. In semi-laymans terms this will engage the speed controls that the ATS gets from the FMS.I had the same issue--following tutorial to the letter--RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

Ron, Make sure you engage profile mode at 1500 ft. When you engage profile mode, FMS SPD is automatically engaged as well. If you don't engage profile mode, then yes, you need to engage FMS SPD manually. This isn't mentioned in the tutorial because it tells you to engage profile mode at 1500 ft, which automatically engages FMS SPD.

In>semi-laymans terms this will engage the speed controls that>the ATS gets from the FMS.Rhett,no you do not need to hit the FMS SPD button at any time before or after take-off. You only need to hit PROF at the appropriate altitude.Markus

Another question? On the tutorial flight plan, are the waypoints supposed to have altitudes and speeds opposite them,or is this supposed to occur when you have a STAR inserted.Either way, I don't get a "profile".Ron
