November 25, 200223 yr Well, got that patch from Wilco and here's three things I've found (credits to the people who found the first two). All with the PICPOSKY v3 merge. 1. Entry doors message on EICAS.2. APU opens/closes depending on the APU switch position. 3. Fuel imbalances seem very small, almost non-existant.
November 26, 200223 yr I thought I noticed less of a fuel imbalance as well...I kind of enjoyed the mis match as it has been reported that this would reflect the real world...i.e. no two engines burn the same.I like the new EIACS cabin door message and the APU door visually opening and clising, but I must say I am not happy with the APU lighting up at ~80% instead of 97% which is where it should. Also, any changes with the fuel flow make me nervous ;-) I may re-install and forget the 3rd Party Patch pending any comments from the Team formerly known as PIC.Laurent, can you comment on the fuel flow adjustments and if there were any? Was this the "3rd Gem" of the third party patch? Thanks much.Rob.
November 26, 200223 yr Well, FF might have been altered, I noticed I needed more thrust to taxi on the ground.
November 26, 200223 yr Uh oh....I will have to check and see if I notice a difference for taxi fuel/thrust required. Usually, it takes about 60% to break away, then it can be reduced for taxi...this was a known issue with FS2k2 but kept the fuel burn accurate...hopefully Laurent or someone at PIC team can tell us if this has been altered with the 3rd party hardware patch.Jeesh, who'd a thought a simple patch to allow some hardware to be plugged in would have hidden gems? I really like the fact 'they' are adding/changing features, but it would be nice to know what has changed so one may make a decision to take the upgrade or leave it as is.Bye for now,Rob.
November 26, 200223 yr Hi Mark,I only installed the 3rd party hardware patch after I became aware of the secret additions that the patch also contains. I also posted Laurent before I installed it on this forum and he replied that the patch will not cause any problems even though I have no thrid party software being used in PIC767. There is no uninstall for this patch, so I will stick with it unless there is an issue yet to be discovered. I wish I had the MCP, I have dreams about it - it's on my list for next year, that and the CH yoke...oh and that new FMC hardware looks nice too....trying to get approval from she who must be obeyed is not that easy ;-)Rob.
November 26, 200223 yr Thanks Rob,I will probably install Patch 3.I got the CH Yoke when I was in Orlando earlier this year.Saved about 1/3 buying in the US compared to the UK.Was looking at getting the MCP, but bought a Volkswagen Golf instead. :-lolMark
November 26, 200223 yr Mark - just a heads up - although this is all speculation at this point...seems that the APU will provide power too quickly (fact), the fuel burn and/or discrepancy between L/R engine burn and/or taxi thrust requirements MAY also have been "adjusted". By whom these adjustments were made, who tested them, and whether or not any such adjustments were made is all speculation.I will be checking the date on my AIR and CFG files when I get home - if there was a change in the fuel burn, one/both of those files would have been modified as far as my brain tells me. The APU and EIACS message would be (I think) part of the gauge files, but burn should be part of the config/air files.Bye for now,Rob.
November 26, 200223 yr Huh? How did you connect the Golf to PIC767? Is the shiftlever acting as a sidestick? You really got me confused.Kind regards,Stephan Haas
November 26, 200223 yr Mark,Yes, that's what I understand, but what use is a VW for flightsimming?:(Kind regards,Stephan Haas
November 26, 200223 yr A VW Golf will get him home from work faster than Mark's previous car - the Morris Minor finally bit the dust, eh? ;-) ...faster car so he can start flying sooner.
November 26, 200223 yr OK, I give in.Morris Minor? You mean the original on by Alec Issogonis? It must have been worth its moneyKind regards,Stephan Haas
