November 27, 200223 yr In my effort to make my PIC experience even more realistic, I am looking for suggestions on other purchases to make in terms of software. I am considering Flight Deck Companion, but don't know enough about it. What about flight planning software? The built-in MS planner does a pretty lousy job selecting flight paths based on reality. Any suggestions? Thanks!
November 27, 200223 yr For PIC flight planning try FSBUILD athttp://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/a...er1/fsbuild.htmCheersIan
November 28, 200223 yr BCSnowrider,In my opinion, FSMeteo should be on your list of "must haves" if you want to make it realistic (how real can it be if you are not using real world weather?) There are some other weather generating programs out there but FSMeteo still is the best, particularly if you fly outside the US.Kevin in CYOW (and former resident of BC ...)
November 28, 200223 yr Compare features of ActiveSky and FSMeteo. Both generate weather but ActiveSky begins to offer smooth weather transitions (long overdue) - feature that I personally couldn't live without. You could also consider Radar Contact 3.0 - if you want to have your ATC as real as possible. You may also want to pay attention to the upcoming Meridian (from Flight1) - allegedly to be available in December. According to their creators this promises to be at the fidelity level never before seen in FS. From their 'glossy' brochure: ... You better hang on to your hat. because you are not ready for this one nor have you seen anything like it for FS. Their track record has been very good so I guess there must be some shred of truth in this claim. We will see.Michael J.[link:jdtllc.com]http://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Michael J.
November 30, 200223 yr Moderator Hi,I would go along with the others and suggest FSMeteo and Radar Contact v3. FSMeteo has been adapted to work seamlessly with Radar Contact. RC3 has been beta-tested for several months and is a first-class product far exceeding the capabilities of the default ATC.If you want the ultimate upgrade for the 767 then consider the MCP747 unit. It controls all features of the 767's MCP and can also control the autopilot of default FS2002 aircraft. Visit here for more info...www.mcp747.com/Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
