Any last thoughts or known problems with that combo?

I'm assuming this motherboard has the nVIdia chipset? I'd stay away from the VIA chipsets if at all possible.

It is based on the VIA chipset. Take a look and advise why you recommend staying away. Mike,There have been random problems reported with getting the CH yoke and pedals to work correctly when running Windows XP and VIA chipsets.CH Products is blaming VIA, VIA is blaming Microsoft, etc.Apparently these problems don't occur with the nVidia based nForce chipsets. See these threads:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID56/645.html http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID56/703.html

This is an example of exactly why I have been pestering you all with this thread. Thanks Stiff! Headaches I don't need.

Hi Mike, the nVidia board is also the better choice if you intend to use the onboard sound - my wife got the A7V8X, and ended up having to go out and buy a sound card, while I'm perfectly happy with the sound on my A7N8X. And price-wise, there's next to no difference - maybe ten bucks, if even that.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

Hi Mike,First, thanks for Sunday, I finally made a PIC event :-lol I think I konw the answer now, don't state in the forum that I will make the flight :-lol MotherboardsI agree with what Stiffy said about your choice. Although I have no experience of ASUS mo/bos (ABit man myself) what he said about possible problems with WinXP, CH Pro stuff & VIA drivers seems to be true considering the number of posts in the avsim forums. Also that board has the same K400 chipset that my Abit KD7 has and I could not use 2 sticks of PC2700 RAM. Now I have no idea if that was done to the K400 chipset, the RAM, or the Abit mo/bo but it is the first time I have had problems with Abit boards. As I said in my orginal reply, those who benchmark these new boards and chipsets reckon that the NVidia chipset is faster than the VIA one. Maybe VIA will catch up with improved drivers, but if I were in the market for a mo/bo now I would seriously consider one with the Nvidia chipset.I have experience with the other parts you have chosen but from the specs they look OK. The HD could go up to ATA133 but TBH I don't think the data transfer rate is all that much faster than the ATA100 in reality. If you are building this yourself I would check that you can return the RAM if it does not work on the particular mo/bo.HTH

Thanks to all that helped guide me to, and from, the components to build a system that will primarily be running 767PIC.I just placed the order. Should be 9-12 days before the truck pulls up out front. I elected to have the company I ordered it all from (Monarch Computer Systems) do the assembly and burn in. The added cost was $45.00 and includes added support and warranty. This was really done to protect me from myself. The total package with assembly $1164.00 US Dollars.Lets hope it lasts a couple years.------------------------------------------------------------------M. Aww, I'm jealous. Good luck with the new system.

Hi Mike,That looks a nice spec although I had not realised that Leadtek did mothereboards, it should serve you well and the extra $45 was money well spent IMO. Here in the UK I would guess build and extra warranty would be dearer (like most things).I'm sure you'll let us all know how it performs ;)
