February 26, 200323 yr Hi Guys,Now the forums are working again :-) I have just uploaded to my web site screen shots of Sunday's 767PIC on VATSIM flighthttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/avroe_xh558/PIC/767PIC.htmMain pagehttp://homepage.ntlworld.com/avroe_xh558/Enjoy
February 26, 200323 yr Great pictures!I was SAS 544 so it was nice to have some screenshots of my flight.Kind regards,Stephan Haas
February 26, 200323 yr Very nice shots. You did a fantastic job of capturing the day.I can tell you that your going wet your pants when you trade in that VSI for Lee's version 1 that he is near to releasing.OMOKO, a fix that will be hard to forget for many. I was totally drained after this flight, the scenery in Vienna was great but only a tease for what was to come with the package that Sir George did for LGAV.
February 26, 200323 yr Nice pics!Hopefully some day CSL/VIP will get the bugs ironed out and we will be able to see each other properly. I know when I get two or three of my "own" posky aircraft in view, my frame rates go to slide show mode. There are updates avaialable for CSL and VIP textures at their websites. The CSL aircraft are now modelled with lights and extended flaps/gear when on the ground.Until the next one,Rob. System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
February 26, 200323 yr Vulcan,Thanks for the kind words on your web page. Something you mention at the end has me thinking about a detail I have missed with the PIC flights. There is nothing wrong with your CSL. The reason you see me and a couple others as yourself is that we have added VIP2 textures to our aircraft folders and select VIP2 aircraft when we file our flight plans. The primary motivating factor for doing that is because it is the only way I can select and be viewed in American Airlines textures, the CSL library does not have them. This works fantastic for my everyday stuff with Rob, Murf, Ian, Daryl, Bill, Gregg, Steve, etc. etc. because they have the VIP2 textures installed and see me as an AAL livery. But this is at a huge expense to you and others who do not have those textures. If I fail to point it out on future events, please reply to the thread with this reminder:(Thanks Rob, I grabbed the links you posted)For PIC on VATSIM events as well as all large events, please select default CSL aircraft in Squawkbox when you file your flight plans. Using custom aircraft textures available through VIP2 or Virtual Airline custom CSL modifications will result in everyone without those textures seeing you as their own aircraft texture. A "not found" texture is very demanding on system resources and results in severely diminished frame rates. Please respect the other pilot's situation and use a default Squawkbox texture on your flight plan for all PIC on VATSIM events. (this will be resolved with the release of the next version of squawkbox but we have to live with it for now). Here are the links to the latest standard Squawkbox CSL textures if you have not updated for a while. This is the link to get the updated 'beta' of CSL with flaps, gear, lights on some CSL aircraft:http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/seang1/csl/CSL2k2Beta1.zip--You will may need this one as well:http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/seang1/csl/CSL_ICAO.zipIt is important to note that this selection MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO JOINING THE VATSIM SERVER or it simply will not have an effect. Other pilots will see (or try to see) you as the texture selected at the moment of the connection to VATSIM.
February 26, 200323 yr This is the link to get the updated 'beta' of CSL with flaps, gear, lights on some CSL aircraft.http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/seang1/csl/CSL2k2Beta1.zipYou will also need this one as well:http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/seang1/csl/CSL_ICAO.zipThese links are on the VATSIM/Software/Squawkbox page. This is a beta update to the standard CSL files and it has been working great for me. Build 1.7.6 by SG is what you will get.Rob. System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
February 26, 200323 yr Good call Mike!I just noticed that in my current csl_icao.csv file, I had ONLY VIP aircraft types, zero CSL "~" aircraft, the "~" before the aircraft type being specific to CSL types it would seem. I copied and pasted some CSL 767's (line by line) from the CSL_ICAO.csv to the CSL/VIP_ICAO.csv I had with only the VIP aircraft in it. I can now select a CSL aircraft for others to see me as during these events. During the cut/paste (of the CSL_ICAO lines into the VIP/CSL_ICAO.csv file), I was asked if I wanted to keep the formatting (without commas or some such nonsense), I simply answered 'yes'.The VIP site is closed pending release of SB-3. Also note, the VIP textures do NOT have the flaps and landing lights, only the CSL beta version aircraft seem to add this.Rob. System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
February 26, 200323 yr Hi Mike,I think this topic of CSL/VIP stuff should be a new thread, a lot of people have confusion about CSL/VIP, what "I" see you as, etc. I can not find any instructions on 'blending' CSL with VIP in the CSL_ICAO.csv either, you may be the pinoeer in this case...again ;-)Also, I sense a lot of confusion as to how exactly CSL works, what the ICAO file does (and does not). The link for the beta CSL textures will overwrite/update your FS2k2/Aircraft/CSL folder textures. The Aircraft/FSIDC folder conmtains all of your VIP textures and is not affected. The link for the CSL_ICAO.csv file will overwrite your existing file...this is where you can select (in the SB flight plan) the type of aircrft people will SEE YOU as. If you select a VIP aircraft, and others do not have it, others will see you as 'themselves'.Hopefully this all gets settled with SB-3.Rob. System specs: Dual core E6300 (1.86g X 2), 2gb RAM, nvidea7800GT, Saitek yoke, CH throttle (6 lever), Soundblaster live.Add-ons: FSX: LDS767, FSL Concorde, FT E175/195, PMDG 747X/737X, Active Sky E, some freeware airports.Human specs: Desktop simulation since FS1, beta tester (LDS, FSL), 737NG simulator tech (Threshold Aviation), r sole+.
February 26, 200323 yr OK, now I am completely confused! But at least I know why so many people are showing up as me. I knew that screwing around with one's own CSL had an affect on others. You might laugh, but I've been known to use a PIC/CSL merge for fly-ins so if I do see "me" all over the place it doesn't hurt my frame rate. So, what do I want: VIP, CSL beta, both, neither? Right now I have stock CSL. That shows how out of date I am.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
February 26, 200323 yr The new thread may be a good idea. This is a very importaint issue and your right about the confusion, even many VATSIM regulars are clueless how that interaction really works. This would also be a good time to deal with csl issues as the next PIC event won't be for a few weeks. Could you snip a copy of my post and parts of our exchange in this thread and start a new one? I realize that the squawkbox forum would really be the place to do that but that's like putting vital information, that this group needs to share, in the back pages of a newspaper.I thought about grabbing the outline and procedure I wrote some time ago regarding VIP2. With VIP2 downloads unavailable now we might as well not be explaining how to merge it. But my tip on re-arranging the order of the csv file is certainly valid today. Having the aircrat you fly at the top of the spreadsheet is an easy one-time fix for making selections easy on all your future flights. When the new squawkbox comes on line later this year (I don't know when) all of this will change, for the better I believe.
February 26, 200323 yr I was worried I would do more harm than good with my last post ;-)The stock CSL is fine, you would be wise to update with the links Mike and I gave (same links). The VIP2 aircraft for Sbox are not available pending the release of SB3.The basic working of CSL is this:In the FS2k2/Aircraft/CSL folder is an "Aircraft.cfg" file that contains all of the CSL aircraft types that YOU can see OTHERS as when connected to Sbox. The VIP-FSIDC also has it's own Aircraft.cfg file. When you connect to Sbox, other aircraft in view are presented correctly ONLY if you have those same aircraft in your local CSL/FSIDC folders (the Aircraft.cfg file contains what the "OTHER" person has selected as their aircraft type). The CSL_ICAO.csv file provides data for a list of aircraft OTHERS see YOU as...you select what they see when you file a flight plan in SBox...the pull down menu of aircraft/airlines is from the .csv file. i.e.: If I select an aircraft for people to see me as in SBox, and the 'other' person does NOT have that 'aircraft' in their local Aircraft/CSL or /FSIDC folder, SBox "runs home to mama" (quoting a fav movie of mine) and shows "me" to "them" as 'themselves' because it simply does not have the same aircraft textures to show you. If we both have the same aircraft in those folders, you will see me as I have 'told' Sbox what to present me to others as.Clear as mud? (FS2k2/Aircraft/FSIDC contains ONLY the VIP textures additional to CSL aircraft.)
