New 767PIC user... what mods should I use?

Featured Replies

Guys,I've just ordered 767PIC (I'm using FS2K2, and even though I prefer the A320, it's just not a good enough model at the moment), and I'd appreciate comments on what flightmodel/utility mods I need to download to make 767PIC as realistic as possible? For instance, should I download a more accurate AIR or CFG file? Which one is best? What other mods would make it frighteningly accurate? I'm not going to ask any mind-numbingly regular questions as I'm sure I'll learn by my own mistakes! Thanks,Nial

No need for tweaks, just download the FS2K2 patch and you're good to go.Visual model can be enhanced by getting the POSKY MERGE ver3.Do a search dude.Welcome to nirvana.DS CVA3339 / UKD149http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

HmmmmmmIt`s a shame you had to settle for PIC767.;)Well once you get it installed you`ll come to your senses I hope.As Dshutt says that`s all you need and when you feel like it there are couple of freeware addons for tcas, landing views you might want to check out.Above all else read the manuals, everything you need to know is there.

Currently there is not a better or more realistic airliner for flight simulator (well that's about to be fixed ;)) the A320 is not 1/10th of PIC 767 quality, plain facts...[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Maybe I should join in here too: I have been away from PIC for a while, but I am getting back to it now that I have a new computer. While I am familiar with the merge and the TCAS, I understand that there are also several other mods and utilities that are necessesary to have for hard core PICers?- Oyvind

Stop your teasing there Randy. Can you give us a hint of what's going to be "fixed"? :-bigangel

I think Randy is talking about the upcoming 737NG from PMDG!!! ;-)Matthias

Nah, I think he's got some PIC insider information. The 737NG from PMGD is just a decoy to us true PICtionado's. What does Randy really know????

Nial,I am currently using and very happy with the following set up:1. PIC767, patched for FS2K2. Lee's POSKY merge (very important for decent frame rates)3. Lee's TCAS gauge (added realism)4. zoomed EADI and EHSI (sorry, I forget the author but I like to the use the zoomed EADI for the more critical phases of flight such as T/O, initial climb, approach and landing)(all mods available in the AVSIM library)From posts on here I think another common mod is the landing view mod but personally I don't find it is required. Good view over the nose with the standard set up.To round it out I use FSMETEO for real time weather. For me all this works fine (15+ frame rate) on an 833 P4 512MB with an ATI7500 video card, WIN ME.And finally, I have tried many other products and have considerable real world flying experience (although not on the 67) but IMO nothing else comes close to PIC767 for recreating the feel and system management of flying a big airplane.Kevin in CYOW

I will not compare PIC 767 Version 2 with PMDG's 737 NG for the simple fact that I have no idea what the WELP guys have doing. My god, anything by today's standards added to an already incredible 767 aircraft is beyond words. I will say this, I am a beta tester for PMDG 737NG and I can do things already in are second beta week on the FMC that the current PIC can not do! That's just one area. The FMS is amazing, and you can bet that I am making sure all the little details get into that FMC/ND! Vatsim, make way for another leader in the skys! [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. • 2 weeks later...

I'm new to the 767 PIC and so far I have been extemely impressed. I made my first "from scratch" flight last night from KDEN to KLAX and it was awesome to say the least. I did a search for the files above and couldn't turn up anything in the library. Does anyone have the exact file names that I should be looking for or what part of the library they are in?Thanks!

I found the TCAS guage but still no luck with the merge.

Thanks!
