August 20, 200322 yr something like this...perhaps ?No ?enjoy...http://www.airliners.net/open.file/292539/M/
August 20, 200322 yr 2.5-3 degrees per second rotation is a good maximum rule.Regular liftoff using flaps 5 or 15 (or 20) should occur at 7.5 degrees, leaving minimum of 24 inches tail clearance. Tail strike will occur at around 9.6 degrees, @ two engines and regular weights/COG. Lower flaps settings are more sensitive to tailstrikes.B.A. is also a good degree.
August 31, 200322 yr "if the tail strike is hard enough to compress this cylinder more that a half inch, which takes a hard hit, a light in the cockpit, which is right next to the gear indicators, lights up and the crew is supposed to return to have the tail inspected,...""I may have to consult the (real) experts to see if this is the case with our 76's"Hmmm.... The experts have agreed with me ...for a change :-) I was even told there was an engineer's exam question on the subject where the answer "The TAIL SKID light illuminates when there has been a tailstrike"(or something like that), was the wrong answer.Something has to be seriously damaged before you get the TAIL SKID light to illuminate after a tailstrike (either that or the tailskid retract/extend mechanism is not working). The 36 second time delay shown in the wiring diagrams is simply to give the gear enough time to retract, so that there is not a mismatch between the Gear being up and the tailskid being up.This is not to say that your aircraft is not wired differently, Al.Cheers.Ian.
August 31, 200322 yr Darn... Yesterday, I almost had the opportunity to take a photo of the Tail Skid... from the inside of the aircraft.... but my camera batteries went flat on me. Had a problem with the APU door .... the actuator electrical connector is in the same area, behind the aft pressure bulkhead.Still, it wasn't a pretty sight :( (grease everywhere)Cheers.Ian.
