weather radar in PIC2???

Featured Replies

It would be nice to have a weather radar and the posibility of expel fuel from the wingswhat do you think about that?

Weather radar cannot be modelled correctly in FS2004, no more then it could in previous MS sims. This has been an on going issue for years, so basically you could have a screen showing bogus weather that has nothing to do with any downloaded weather you may be using. Many developers choose to not model a bogus weather radar gauge (and rightly so) as it takes away from the realism that one expects from a package such as PIC. Dreamfleet is also a known developer that will not model a bogus weather radar and those are Lou's own words.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer

So, What would be the new features of 767PIC?? just to fly in FS2004?As I see there are too many people that want to make people think that 767PIC doesn,t run in fs2004 with the patch, because there is a high interest for selling to many copies of the new version. I can tell you that it runs perfectly. The patch it

As always, you never answer anything

Van, you may want to check out this: http://simulationwidgets.com:8080/Also, could I have a copy of your 757 FDE ?

Miguel:Hear me clearly. I will answer you clearly.PIC767 was developed for FS2000, and patched to FS2002. If you are using FS2002, the product works flawlessly.I am a USER of the PIC767 which was developed for FS2000, and patched to FS2002.I am not the developer of the PIC767 which was developed for FS2000, and patched to FS2002.IMPORTANT: I cannot address your concerns about FS2004 and PIC767. No USER can. In fact, even the developers cannot answer your questions, because the 767 has not been developed/built/manufactured/released for FS2004. If you have a USER question for the PIC767 which was developed for FS2000, and patched to FS2002, I, along with many others, would be more than willing to answer your questions. But, you seem hidebound, persistent, to keep on about FS2004 and PIC767. The current version of PIC767 (the PIC767 that was developed for FS2000, and patched to FS2002) will not work with FS2004. Yes, there is a mod/workaround/config edit out there that will enable the PIC767 (the PIC767 which was developed for FS2000, and patched to FS2002) to work (with major drawbacks) with FS2004.However, the modified PIC767 is NOT SUPPORTED, AUTHORIZED, AND/OR RECOGNIZED by the developers, as they are working on a new version for FS2004. It will be called 767 version 2.When that product is released, a new forum will open to address the concerns of the 767 version 2.This forum is a USERS forum for the PIC767 which was developed for FS2000, and patched to FS2002.You have now posted 9 - countem - NINE questions about the 767 for FS2004. I (along with others) have tried to explain this to you several times. I, for one, am getting a little tired of the same posts. However, I have tried to answer your question AGAIN. Is this clear now?Daryl ShuttleworthDS 3339http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

Miguel,For one thing this "patch" you are referring to isn't one at all, but rather an attempt to make a panel function in a sim it was not meant for and if you can live with the hidious undocked window affect along with various other issue then so be it.Now as far as PICv2 goes you obviously haven't had PIC for very long or have visited this forum either because if you had you would already know the answers you are seeking. PICv2 will have some new features and the option of networkable gauges which will allow you to join a fellow simmer (online or at home with more then one PC) where as you can fly as the pilot in command and he the first officer or visa versa (if the F/O makes changes to the fmc you will then see those changes on your own etc etc). This feature will be very unique and raise the bar for all other developers. Now with that being said, if you had done a search on these forums you would have found the thread explaining what PICv2 will have to offer and you will also realise that you will be far from getting ripped off.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer

Adam I did check that link out and to me it looks like a program heading towards being a random weather generator with a viewable weather screen. This is quite different then a developer adding their own weather radar gauge that will show current and accurate weather as it is prosessed by the sim through the MS default weather generator or any other for that matter. This is why I said developers tend to stay away from weather radar gauges as they are developing an aircraft panel and not a weather gererating package. At this point in time I'm going by several developers words, including Lou Betti from Dreamfleet that it is not possible to create an accurate and realistic gauge for an aircraft package to render weather radar realisticly.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer

Support that entirely. I have seen PIC with undocked guages working, to a fashion, in FS9. Looks bad, performs worse. I will buy FS9 when PIC V2 is released. Not before. The bells and whistles of FS9 don't make up for the inability to fly the PIC 767 properly. PIC is still, by a considerable margin, the most complete addon for FS2000 and FS2K2, which speaks volumes for the developers considering how old it is, and I have very high expectations for V2.Patience friend, patience.Bruce.

'lest you read the back of the box

Well, it WOULD be nice if PICv2 can model some sort of air freshner to help with the uncontrollable flatulence that develops as a result of long hours of flight with nothing to eat leading to a buildup of gas in the nether-regions blah, blah, blah...........Surely the WELP team can manage that......I would assume that would be easier to model than a weather radar........

Dean,Weather Center is actually a functional wx radar as it is also a wx generator-it downloads real world weather and constructs the weather and wx to coincide with each other. Just to clear that up-it aint a bad program at all...In fact ActiveSky 2 will have such a feature ;)There is also the fact that MSFS knows that it's creating clouds, albeit randomly-it is simply is told that clouds should be FEW 2/8 at 5000ft in a certain area. But it also knows exactly where these clouds are generated, i.e that this cloud goes here, that cloud goes there in a FEW2/8 formation/fashion.This is not new information, BUT(yes again), in FS2004, clouds are 3D,meaning they are objects made of Polygons just like a building in an airport. Overall, what I am saying is that a WX RADAR could well be feasible provided that the MSFS SDK is good enough.I'd also love to see a VSD implemented, which could also be possible as it would only involve a code which scans ahead of the aircraft logging the RA of the ground ahead and translating that into a graphical display.PMDG said they would look into implementing both these options in their 800/900 upgrade. One thing I DO know though, if it's possible-Wade will surely get it right ;)JohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewerhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicator/status.php?id=815145;indicator=BAV01
