November 21, 200322 yr It would be good than the new FMC would be as minimum as the 737Dreamfleet one. This FMC has all the STARS,SIDS, and are more easy to config. When you select a STAR and you choose the transition point, inmediatly, the FMC calculate and paint the path to the final aproach (aprox 10 milles in direct aproach to the runway).767PIC don
November 21, 200322 yr Hi there. It was because the FMC didnt have any start or sids and IAP's at all.ONly some in the USA.Dreamfleet 737 have it, and you have a choice if you want the final fix point at 10NM before the RWY or 25NM for the RWY.The pilot in command 767 will have that also maybe with V2.Thanks,Ramon.
November 21, 200322 yr 767 PIC FMC Manual - Pages 97 - 108This section of the FMC manual explains in detail how to programme Approach procedures using the FMC and how to save them for future use.The FMC Nav Database on a real 757/767 contains a complete listing of all such procedures for the airports which are installed with the Nav Data. This is region specific. Selecting an Approach Procedure is the way things are done using a real life FMC.
November 23, 200322 yr The whole beauty of the 767 PIC FMC is its flexability. You don't have to stick to standard routes, SIDs or STARs. This is particularly useful for me in Australia where many standard STARs end up too close to the runway for a big 767 to turn in to. The biggies are most often vectored in to final. This particularly applies to YSSY RWY 34L/R approaches. I use the 767 FMC to set waypoints to make a reasonable arc to meet the approach path 10 miles out. It keeps me working mentally to get it right.
November 28, 200322 yr I would have thought that the FMCs would be different in any case being two different aircraft. I alos know the Dreamfleet philosophy is somewhat different from the WELP (former PIC team).
November 28, 200322 yr They are very different an many ways. The orginal poster seems to have not to good understanding of PIC's great FMC...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 30, 200322 yr Actually I think the poster might be looking to see if the new FMC will have some unrealistic additional functions like the "select a STAR" function of the Dreamfleet FMC which will show you a scrollable list of STARs including map before you select it in. I don't believe the real 737 FMC has this functionality, so I think it's more a misunderstanding of what's real/not real in the modeled aircraft than it is a misunderstanding of the software, but I could be wrong.
