December 25, 200322 yr Hi guys, during the PicOnVatsim(which was great imho) i had a little discrepancy in my plane, it only showed when airborne, i decided it not too big importance so continued the flight.here is the attached screenshot, appearantly, the magnetic heading varies over 20 degrees with the true heading...does anyone know why the magvar is increased like this?CheersPS: the track(TRK) and heading(HDG) are practically the same so that is not a factor eitherhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54555.jpg
December 25, 200322 yr Probably down to a navdatabase error or something? Where abouts where you flying?Cheers[br][/img]
December 25, 200322 yr did you possibly slew before the flight, I have noticed with high end panels if you do slew it seems to mess things up abitDon
December 25, 200322 yr Lenny,You're flying on LNAV so forget about the HDG of 100 on your MCP...I gues I miss your point.Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
December 25, 200322 yr Hi NicoIt's standard practice to set the hdg bug to your current heading during LNAV use. What Lenny has done is exactly this just to get a readout of the aircrafts heading, commanded by LNAV.Cheers[br][/img]
December 25, 200322 yr nicoYou're right about that, the heading input doesn't do a thing, at least untill you start getting vectors...based on the magvar at brussels i could derive the deviation so i just used that figure to adjust the vectors from ATCthen for the ILS portion, the HDG was shown completely falseso i had to revert to the true heading thus had to adjust the course to the ILS with the magvar, and didn't let the autopilot touch it at anytime as i think that would've messed everything up... but you're right, on LNAV this can be discarded...
