October 20, 200421 yr Hello All,I'm sure a few of use here have flown the Aerowinx Precision 747 Sim; and I was wondering, if you could add random perturbations to the EGT/N1 values etc? Just so we get the feeling of a level D-Simulator rather than a bog standard PC sim. ;-) Anychance of that making the release?Regards,Paul
October 20, 200421 yr Very good idea but can you imagine all the guys who will yell "BUG" insted of RTFM ;-D To add to this, each engine should be different "slightly" in output but I would not want to figure out the varibles..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Not a real pilot, but do play one on TV ;-)AMD 64 3200+ | NEC LCD 1980SXi 19" | ASUS KV8 DELUXE | GFORCE 5700 ULTRA @535/1000 | Maxtor 6Y080M0 SATA 80 GIG | 512 DDR 400 | Windows Xp Pro | Randy J Smith
October 21, 200421 yr From a programming standpoint, each engine in FS has its seperate variables. I believe it should be possible to have each engine have a slighly different efficiency coefficient. How about an engine that degrades over time.. It shouldn't be too hard to have two engines act differently, even just slightly..Nice thought though.. Doesn't the PSS a340 have slightly different values for n1 and n2 for all 4 engines??
October 23, 200421 yr I don't think we really want N1 (specifically) values randomly being perturbed. There are computers on these aircraft trying their best to either stop them or hide them from the flight crew. The 744 has thrust trimming (FMC and EEC interaction) to equalize the thrust (N1) on all four engines. Even if you were to switch on Nacelle Anti Ice on one engine only (increasing the air load on that engine), the electronics should add extra fuel to keep the N1 at the same value as the other engines (By "add", I mean take less fuel away... The EEC can only downtrim an engine. During high load situations, the EEC will reduce the amount of fuel it normally subtracts from the basic "hydromechanical" fuel supply. If you switched the EEC's OFF, you should see an increase in actual N1, depending on current engine loads).767's have similar systems and may even, additionally, hide (graphically) small N1 thrust splits from the flight crew during T/O and CLB.Note: You may see splits between N1 values during descent (idle). During idle, N1 no longer becomes the primary engine parameter. This mismatch may be due to having engines of different ages on the same aircraft.I can't comment on Airbus behaviour.Cheers.Ian R>P.S. Please note: During flightsim software beta testing, you occasionally find big differences between reality, what the flight manuals say, what big sims do, what the maintenance manual says and what the wiring diagrams show you. Reality should win, but then reality is often more difficult to model than the others... and you get complaints from (non-real pilot) users saying that their manuals don't agree with what is happening on the screen. You may find that compromises have to be made at some point to "most of the people happy most of the time".Then there are the options which every airline has.... No two aircraft are alike. Your aircraft may not work like this... but mine does ;-)
October 23, 200421 yr Commercial Member Ian, you amaze me... and most of the fs-world no doubt. Ian, it was just a thought.. LOL kinda curious about it, that's all.. Thanks for the explanation though.. I need to start reading up on Aircraft systems.. hehehe
