February 1, 200521 yr None on our real world 767's.... but that is not to say no 767-300ER has one.Anyone seen this switch on a 767? (Usually features a large rectangular orange light with the word EVAC written on it). Usually found on 744 pedestals.Cheers.Ian.
February 2, 200521 yr Author That was wat I'm looking for as some check. say it does, but on airlines.net you don't see an EVAC. switch ether. Thanks,
February 2, 200521 yr I heard a rumour that it does have electrically operated seats and evac ropes! ;)(just kidding, no offense meant) /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
February 2, 200521 yr Hey Maarten,Thats one dirty looking overhead panel mate. Still nice though. I dont think BA have this kind of EVAC system installed on their 757/767s do they? I dont recall it being mentioned in the FM anyway.Regards,Lee. Lee Holland
February 2, 200521 yr Its in the flying manual Mr Holland!Page 04-20 (onto 04-21) 5th Paragraph of the BA ops manual states:"The order to evacuate should be given by the captain or, in his absence, by the first officer. The evacuation order should be given using the pedestal hand microphone. This is hard wired to the PA system and no selections on the ASP are required. The order is "This is an emergency. Evacuate, evacuate" followed by the EVAC alarm. The captain should not normally specify which exits to use. However, if hazardous conditions are known to exist in the vicinty of particular exits, the following guidence may be giver:- "Hazard at _______ (specify door(s) or area)"Cheers
February 2, 200521 yr It's used for initiating an emergency evacuation. The panel can be used to set off an evacuation signal at the cabin doors. There are similar control panels at the cabin doors (The Cabin crew can also initiate an evacuation). The panels include a loud horn, a light and a control switch. The big orange/red light can be tested by pushing it (see pic provided).Cheers.Ian.
February 2, 200521 yr Thanks for correcting me Mr Sealey. I really must read through that manual again.Regards,Lee. Lee Holland
February 2, 200521 yr Sorry about this but I've had too many wines.....'I really don't care if it has an "EVAC" or not'...Does it really matter at this stage in the game...I apologize in advance but just had to type it anyways.Regards, jack
February 2, 200521 yr The evacuation order should be given using the pedestal hand microphone. This is hard wired to the PA system and no selections on the ASP are required.Sounds like a BA has a few optional extras.... The EVAC switch and a dedicated PA microphone.Cheers.Ian.
