DirectX 9

Featured Replies

Just looking for an ultimate word about DirectX 9.0 : it's worthy and useful to install it or it's better to forget it ?I hear around too many different opinions on it.Someone told me that SquawkBox 2.3.5 doesn't work well with DX 9.0 as the position of aircraft on ATC radar screen is not corresponding to the real one ( 30 NM southbound or so ). But in other forum I found the solution for this issue just changing comma with dot in Control Panel/international options. So, the point is : is it advisable to install DirectX 9.0 ?What and how many problems can we expect from this regarding multiplayer activity ?thanks .Maurizio CintiComoItaly

It will be a moot point come July 29. FS2004 ships with DX9 and as for SquawkBox 2.3.5, well they had to patch it for FS2002 and with SB3 being worked on, I doubt they will patch the current build for FS2004. In fact I am betting that until SB3 is released, VATSIM is going to have an overall slowdown in usage after FS2004 comes out because no one with it will be able to use Squawkbox till SB3 is released and don't count on that being anytime soon judging by the SB3 site.

Hi,You can always do like me, run the SB 2.3b4 version (the FS2000 version) on a second PC via WideFS. That works fine with DirectX9, and you have the pure good old SB functionality...and no HostSB needed.Cheers,Nicohttp://www.nicokaan.nl/
