November 20, 200421 yr Hello,I don't know how is it with you, but here I am getting the runtime error again with AVC Tuner so it probably means that something is up with SimHardware server. Do you have the same problem?
November 20, 200421 yr Hello,I heared similar reports from members of my VACC this morning ...Yours,Martin Georg/EDDFVACC-SAG PR & Events Coordinator *** mailto:[email protected]http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...r=SAG01&a=a.jpg Cheers, Martin Georg/EDDF Contributing editor, FS-Magazin
November 20, 200421 yr Same problem overhere sir.Just waiting to see (eh hear)if they clean up their site.
November 20, 200421 yr I also observed this problem last night, while connected to VATSIM. Got the runtime error when launching AVCTuner. It had been working OK prior to this, although I have seen the same error message appear at least once before in the past.Regards,WayneMetro 1 / NMH01Metro Helicopters VAwww.metrohelo.org
November 21, 200421 yr As mentioned in a previous thread the problem appears to be associated with the updated version checking functionality of the application. If the server returns an error then the application does not appear to deal with it in a graceful manner. Hopefully simhardware will fix both their server problem and the mishandling of the error condition.I have been able to work around the problem by using my firewall to block access to the simhardware server. AVC Tuner takes a few moments to start up because it has to timeout on the server request but it appears to function correctly after that. The server it tries to make contact with is visp24-179.visp.co.nz (210.54.179.24) although I do not know if this applies to all installations of the application. Do this at your own risk remembering that it will prevent AVC Tuner from alerting you when an updated version (with the fix for this problem hopefully) is available.
November 22, 200421 yr I received this from the guys at SimHardware this morning.Hello Folks,On Saturday evening (I believe) one of the file systems on the server ran out of file handles, called inodes. The side effects of this were threefold:1) All our mail stopped.2) The forums and web contact system stopped.3) When AVC Tuner asked the simhardware site what the latest version was, it was given back an invalid reply, causing it to crash.I has previously addressed a bug in AVC Tuner in which it crashed if the simhardware server was down, but it appears the bug isstill present in another form. I will attempt release a new version over the new few days to address this.Feel free to repost this message anywhere you see discussion on the recent problems take place.Kind Regards,Stuart WhelanSimulation Hardware LTDDDI: +64 3 3778866Mobile: +64 27 2828074Recursion: See Recursion.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)
November 22, 200421 yr Hi Russell! Thanks for the information.Looking forward to getting the updatedversion of AVC Tuner.I enjoy using it very much.Best Regards,Slugger
November 22, 200421 yr Same words!I basically cannot fly in VATSIM if AVC Tuner is down because it is so uncomfortable to change frequencies some other way if SB is running on other computer...
