Questions: Flight Plans

Featured Replies

I'm a new member and just completed a flight which seemed successful. I was connected and things seemed to be working fine. No ATC was 'on' in my area so 122.8 was used. During the flight I checked Servinfo and it showed me okay but it reported that no flight plan was filed. I filed the plan using the option in SB within FS and it reported 'sent'.Question(s): Do you have to file from the main VATSIM FP page? Or was it not showing a FP because no controller was on to accept it...or did I miss something? Thanks.

Nope, if you were connected on VATSIM when SB gave you the "sent" message it should have apeared as filed in Servinfo.I prefer using the FP prefile page. You simulate real op's much better this way.Just make sure when you connect that in SB's own Flight Plan (before connecting) you have chosen the correct aircraft. This makes others see you properly.Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

Thanks for the reply. I wonder why it wasn't showing as filed then. It showed as "sent" and the right aircraft was selected.I agree, the pre-file page is more realistic I'll try it that way next.

Were you logged in when you sent the flightplan?Although not required in the pre-file, it is in the squawkbox way.YOu can set it up offline and press ok, It will say "Flightplan Sent" but since it's offline it doesn't send it... Then when you log in, hit the "Resend flightplan" button.

Yes, I was logged in, I "resent" it a couple of times to be sure (once I noticed "no flight plan filed"), I was "connected" though and as mentioned - showing on Servinfo.

Did you have ServInfo set to update? If it was still showing the information that was available at the time of initial load, and not updating, that would explain it.Bruce Kilbyhttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/876080/430.png

I thought I had but interesting point - thanks Bruce

Hi Bushpilot,This is just to clarify as you are new to VATSIM.When you start SB everythings seems to be working OK and you can file your flight plan from 'ATC Functions' and the SB window shows 'Flight plan sent'. However I think I am correct to say the FP goes nowhere, certainly ATC cannot see it at that stage. If you then click 'connect' from the SB pop-up menu you can resend your FP and ATC can then see it and, I guess Si will show it once it has updated.Appologies if that was what you did, and I can offer no explanation why it did not show your FP.BTW It is good practice to 'squawk standby' before you 'connect' and go to mode C during taxi or before take off.I hope you enjoy the VATSIM experience.Rgds
