Thanks, one thing I've learned in all those years of building is that it is essential to plan way ahead. Otherwise you will be rebuilding or modifying a lot of stuff. I always make CAD drawings of all my panels first before starting to build them. Then I test fit the components on the drawings and when everything is looking good I start building them. It is so easy to overlook some issues you haven't thought about.Boeing Cockpit Projecthttp://home.hccnet.nl/r.v.d.wiele/

Hi! That's very nice work indeed. I too, have had to make my own modules with the lightplates for those I couldn't find on e-Bay.I've just about completed a B727 overhead.Only one of my lightplates that I built is lit and it really turned out well. I bought a stall warning panel that had no lightplate and I tried finding one to no avail, so I decided to try building one myself similar to the way Spectra-Lux builds them.I used two pieces of clear acrylic with a thinner sheet of translucent poly-styrene sandwiched between them. I then used a router attachment on a Dremel and routed out the channels all the way down to the white plastic for the wiring and the 12VDC micro bulbs. All the bulbs are wired in parallel. After checking the operation of the lamps I filled in the channel with RTV sealer. I was able to rig up a crude plug on the back of the plate that plugs into the Boeing module and I fed the 12VDC though the cannon jack on the back of the module. The bulbs light up all of the lettering and they also light up the switch hole and the stall spinner. I might have to try this on my other scratch-built modules when I get the time.Oh, I almost left out that I drew up two masks using MS Viseo for the front of the lightplate. One is black with the white letters and the other is Boeing Gray with the white letters. These two were glued together using 3M #77 adhesive and then used again to glue them to the front of the lightplate. No light leakage and the letters are crisp and sharp.
