July 23, 200520 yr After receiving the LP24 several months ago, I programmed a simple 'g' for my landing gear control panel. It's worked flawlessly since.Well, now that I'm wiring my Boeing 727 overhead into it, the program cannot find the LP24 hooked into the system to load it. I tried using the LP24 and just the keyboard, I disconnected the landing gear switches, I reloaded the software and re-wrote the matrix, but nothing helped. I even tried to load it in a true DOS mode. Nothing. It just doesn't recognize it being in the loop.I tried a different keyboard as well, no luck there either.I sent it back to Hagstrom last week and it checked out fine. After getting it back and installing it, it programmed and loaded just fine. Once. On the second attempt, the program could not find the LP24 again.I hooked it up to an old PI 166Mhz machine and it loaded just fine using the same cables, keyboard, and mouse as on my main system. And the keystroke emulation works just fine on the main system AFTER it has been loaded on the old system. The pass-through works fine too.The cable length is under the max recommended. What could be preventing the program from seeing the LP24 on my main system? Does anyone have any experience with a problem of this sort?Any and all answers, speculation, or suggestions would be appreciated.
July 23, 200520 yr Hi Michael,I learned from Nico Kaan (marvelous website, go to it : www.nicokaan.nl) that the Hagstrom KE72, so probably also your type, only good works with a USB to PS2 converter AND especially only certain types (a slightly more expensive one).He gave me the link for the type that works.http://www.goris.nl/start.php?ArtGrp=113&A...tail=1001003336Don
July 24, 200520 yr Thanks for the reply Hessel. I'm using PS/2 on the machine and on the LP24. No converter is needed, but thanks for the suggestion. Nico has done a marvelous job with that sim.
July 24, 200520 yr Michael,If I understood the problem well, the point was that making this difficult manoever (PS2 to USB, in stead of PS2 to PS2) the working was better.Don't no why.Hessel
July 24, 200520 yr Hi guys,It was needed as a workaround for a Level-D bug. Normally the PS/2 port will work fine too.And as I understand you well the rpoblem is not the key-generation but uploading the Hagstrom device with the code. I do not have the LP24, but for the KE72 I used the COM port at the KE72 connected to the COM port of my PC. That workes well (if you do not make mistakes in the number of the Com port and the KE72 is powered)Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
July 25, 200520 yr That is correct Nico. It is the upload that is the problem. The LP24 has only the 6-pin mini DIN mounted on the board, so any other up-load options are not possible.I've ordered some parts from Mouser this morning, and I'm going to shorten my cables right up to the bare minimum and see if this makes any difference. This is causing a bit of re-arrangement of the electronics, but if it works, it will be worth the re-wiring.Although my cables are under the max recommended length, the shorter the better I guess. Thanks for your input.
