March 1, 200620 yr The specs say Resolution SVGA (800 x 600) SXGA (1280 x 1024)How do i know if my video card supports SXGA? I have a XFS 6600gt agp. I can find nothing on any specs of video cards that claim they support SXGA. I've looked all over Tiger direct and googled the heck out of it in a few different ways. Just what WOULD supply a SXGA signal to this projector?Rebecca
March 1, 200620 yr If you're talking about a GeForce 6600GT... it can, trust me :)I don't know any cards that can't supply this, maybe some strange cards, but surely no mainstream cards like the 6600GT!The easiest way to check this:go to your desktop, right-click and choose properties. Then go to settings, and see if you can set the resolution to 1280*1024(that is, if your screen supports it, but unless you have a widescreen, it should work)
March 1, 200620 yr Oh, here's the official answer:YES!Supported resolutions for a 6600GT:VGA (640x480), XGA (1024x768), SVGA (800x600), SXGA (1280x1024), UXGA (1600x1200), HDTV (1920x1080), QXGA (2048x1536), 1152x864, 1920x1200, 1920x1440
March 2, 200620 yr Author Awesome . Thanks.. hard information to find.... thanks. Now I wonder why not everyone uses a projector. Now, for $592.00, what would be the drawbacks of using this for the "out the windshiled " view? I use a 17" monitor on my simpit for the panle/gauges views. Looks like a better investement than a 21" monitor. Larger display, flexible for around the home uses like movies ans that resolution should be plenty good, dont you think? 2000 ansi-lumens. What are the drawbacks?Thanks...

March 2, 200620 yr Author Read my first post. I am inquiring here about the specs that say 1280x1072. At the moment I have to flight computers. Both have two monitor setups. I drag the panel view over to the second monitor and also place whatever other guages I want there. I re-size those to my liking. The "desktop" is running 1280x1072 on the main 17" monitor and the second 15" monitor sitting off to the side is running 800x600. That resolution and setup is completly satisfactory. Just a bit small and unrealistic. And it is a desktop setup. So I started my simpit. Heres a look.http://eecherrors.homestead.com/cyclicpit.jpg My "simpit" also has two monitors with a 19" running 1024x762 and a 17" running the same resolution. The displays are stacked one on top of the other and the upper is using a frenel lens. Again, the perspective and resolution is satisfactory. Just not big enough on the upper display. I considered a 21" monitor but that is a very limited application for an expense of 600.00 or more. With a projector, I can go even bigger and use it for showing movies around the house. My original post inquired about the 1280x1072 being available on my 6600gt so that I could run an even larger display than the fresnel. Why would you think the projector would be limited to 8x600 or that I would consider running in that mode?

March 2, 200620 yr >Just what WOULD supply a SXGA signal to this projector?Yeah, like others have said too, pretty much anything you can stick in the AGP slot will do that.To those with the resolution concerns, my personal view is that both resolution and big projection size is of course best (and most costy) - but if I would have to pick just one, it would be the 800x600 projector.Wide visual is what gives the feel of immersion. I'd take that over super sharp detail anytime if "both" is not an option.//T
March 4, 200620 yr I would also consider the type of flying your normally do. If you fly heavy iron airliners, most of your flying will be at high altitudes where hi quality detail isn't required. If you fly bug smashers at low altitude, and want the most realism in detail, then you would want, it seems to me, a higher resolution projector system.John JohnMy first SIM was a Link Trainer.
