December 24, 200619 yr Hi,I am hoping to build an MCP based on a B767-300 using switches and encoders and adapting them to look authentic. I intend to use the opencockpit modules eventually. I have been able to source switchgear and displays but I am really struggling to find a retailer that can supply a thumbwheel encoder which I can use for the vertical speed thumbwheel.Have any of you fine chaps any suggestions where I can find one? Is it possible to build something which will do the same job? Is the wheel in a wheelmouse the same thing - might be some possibilities there although it will be a bit too small. All suggestions gratefully accepted. Been at it for 3 hours now searching the net & forums with no joy.UK based so any suppliers would have to deliver to uk/euro.Many thanks
December 24, 200619 yr I am working on a MCP also. I am using a plastic gear for a thumb wheel. I have attached a couple of pictures to illistrate. The panel is not done yet.Davehttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/163761.txthttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/163762.gif
December 30, 200619 yr I have bought 2 moulded thumbwheels (I bought a spare) for my B747 MCP from these guys, and they look just like the real thing. Unfortunately their site is closed for the Christmas holidays, and not open again until January 10. The price was only a few dollars each. They also have very hard to find commercial dual encoders with push-button switch on the inner shaft.http://www.simparts.de/Peter.
December 30, 200619 yr >Hi,>>I am hoping to build an MCP based on a B767-300 using switches>and encoders and adapting them to look authentic. Note that there are some fine examples of MCP's for the Level-D Boeing 767-300ER (programmed with IOCards/SIOC) in the showcase section at the FSCONV page of my web site. You could try to contact these builders. Rgrds,Nicohttp://www.nicokaan.nl
