Question - Project AI vs other flight plans

Featured Replies

Hello,I installed all the project AI autoinstallers + base installer. Now my question is - do I need to stick with only project AI flightplans? If I go and download other flightplans based on real-world flight times, would there be duplication of flightplans ? The problem is that project AI does not have any flightplans that I am aware of for say .. American Airlines. I have seen a flightplan file for american airlines in the library but it also contains plans for other airlines as well .. which means it might conflict with the ones in project AI. Am I correct in my assumptions ?

I recommend you go ahead and download what you want and install it. Get TTools and AFCAD (Lee Swordy) from the library, AITM from http://www.molitor-home.de/FS/AITM , yRoute from http://www.spacejock.com, the AI tutorial from the main menu of AVSIM, and search the library on other AI help files. With the tools listed above you can strip out duplicate flights and rearrange the flights anyway you want. Also visit the TTools forum further down the AVSIM forum menu page.

keep in mind that the PAI installers are full packages....the entire schedule for the said airline is there. so if you were to install any other plans for said airline, it will probably be duplicated. all those utilities mentioned above should point out any discrepencies.chris

Have you checked out the "unoffical" PAI Files on their site? There is quite a few airlines represented. Though those have to be manually installed, there is no installer for them. Picked up the AA flight plans/aircraft that I use there, as well as COA, Aloha, Hawaiian, Northwest, American West.......well I think you can see where I'm going...I think this is also where I picked up the BA world tail repiants too.One last thing, the "unoffical" files are also another source for AFCAD files.:-outtahttp://publish.hometown.aol.com/p3superb/images/675-2fs.jpg

Just as a follow-up post. I think over time one will probably want to discard their built up AI traffic.bgl, go back to the default and reinstall either new AI packages or updated packages.I believe it is also important to support and use the tools provided to garner a better understanding of the innards of FS2002.

Apparently they have removed several files that you have mentioned. I did find a continental airlines flightplan, but no continentalairlines repaint of the PAI aircrafts. Also, PAI seems to concentrate currently only on the jets. There are no embraer-120's or ATRs that continental uses quite a bit on their regional flights. The other problem is that of synchronizing all the aircraft.cfg files with the Aircrafts.txt and flightplan.txt files for the AC# when they are downloaded from different sources. That is the reason I was hoping to go with PAI since they have all these already pre-synchronized for you. I have AITM. I'm still learning how to use it. Hopefully, this tool will do the job for me.

I am suing many FP's from WorldAI2, unofficial FP's, unofficial repaints, and the official PAI stuff :)[email protected]
