October 25, 200223 yr One final response for ya. We got back from Phoenix last night and I opened the e-mail from Jeff today. Just to confirm what others have already told you, United's configuration had no FMC/INS systems. Plain ole' VOR/DME and a antiquated ADF. Flying the old fashined way was certainly fun, but I'm a true glass convert now. As a Capt. I used to fly with on the 727 said "this glass is more than just a passing fancy". Last I heard, he went to the 747-400 right seat (after we retired our 727's). I'm right seat on the A319/320 now and loving it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the old 727 though.Dave
October 25, 200223 yr This jibes with what I heard - that the pilots driving 727s for United had only two VORs and two NBDs for navigation.
