Need info on Asus P2B-F mobo

Featured Replies

I am trying to find out the upper limit of the PIII on this board. The manual states 450 mhz and upwards, but somewere I heard the limit is 1000 mhz. Does anyone out there know this, I know there is one person that once replyed to this question of mine, but I have lost the info as well as the persons name.Regard

Your best bet is to ask ASUS at www.asus.com.tw or go to the ASUS forum at alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus or alt.comp.periphs.mainboards.asus and post your question. The manual at ASUS is not much help. They do have a beta BIOS for your board of 8-5-02 but give no data what it does.

#1 Download the latest BIOS. If you're lucky, it'll have a README with changes, updates, blah, blah, blah :-)Usually the updates in a BIOS will include new processor support since the last update, simply meaning for the P3, a multiplyer increase. If you're game, apply the BIOS, enter the BIOS and see what your choices are! They may have an upper limit by a selection in Mhz (i.e. 700mhz), but if you enter a User Mode you may find that you can select a FSB and multiplyer (ie. 100mhz FSB and 8.0x Multiplyer = 800mhz) that goes beyond the defaults.Try to find Forums that have an archive for the P2B and look there too. Your likely to see similar success/failures stories from others trying the same.Good luck! - Tom

I looked at the beta file, just the *.bin file, no information. I didn't look at the other BIOS files, they may have more information.
