May 12, 200323 yr For those of you who've been hiding under a rock for the past several months, today is the day that Nvidia debuts a new GPU (specifically the NV35), and ATI releases a 256MB 9800 Pro to combat it. Reviews are up at www.anandtech.com as well as www.hardocp.com Both cards look very promising, and I've heard rumors that ATI has something special in the works to trump Nvidia once again (read: highly overclocked version of 256MB 9800 Pro). Looks like good times ahead!regards,Max Cowgill
May 12, 200323 yr I wonder whether the 256 MB onboard memory could be put to good use on the FS. For example if all the ground textures were able to fit within 256 MB you would not need to periodically upload them to the card as you fly along - probably resulting in a very smooth flight. Anyone knows what's the total size of all the ground textures in FS2002 ?Michael J.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg Michael J.
May 12, 200323 yr Not really sure but If that person has for example the UK VFR scenery installed then you are talking about gigabytes. I think each set had 1.5 gigabytes and there were 4...But default textures there might be enough...Maybe FS2004 will be better suited for putting textures into memory.Interesting topic there.Craig Kiltie
