FS9 is just about unplayable on my old PIII 850 with GF1 card and 256k RAM. FS2002 was fine, even with Mesh, scenery and PAI AI. I'm not sure why this is, but in any case it's time I upgraded.Money- within reason- is not really an object, so I'm considering buying just about the highest spec machine out there ie a PIV 3.2 or an AMD XP 3200.However, I have read that we are on the cusp of a new generation of processors, which are expected to be released this autumn/fall.Therefore my question is this: Is it worth waiting for the new generation of processors to be realeased (ie from a performance and future-proofing point of view) or do you think, in all practicality, I'll get the same from the kit i've described above?I only really use my computer for simming, BTW.Thanks for your views and guidance.M

For what it is worth, A P4-2.4, 512 Meg with a Ti4200 video card will fly FS9 just fine, so you are going to be in pretty good shape with a P4 3.2 No need to wait.. there are always going to be new processors around the corner and they are priced way high when first released!I'd buy a P4 2.8 if the budget matters...

Hi there, normally I wouldn't advise waiting for new hardware, but considering that it seems to have been a while since you last upgraded :), and that a whole new generation of CPUs is just around the corner, it may be worth holding off for a couple of months. With the new CPUs, there will be new motherboards as well, so there could be some neat suff around. But in any case, what will happen, is that today's top hardware will drop in price quite considerably.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
