Win98SE and Processor Speed

Featured Replies

I am planning an upgrade from what is now a fairly old CPU (AMD 1.4GHz) to either the 2500 or 2800 Barton. My mobo is ok, but I have seen a reference that Win98 can't take a speed above 2.4. - something to do with a virtual driver NDIS.vxd.Does anyone have any thoughts on this or is using either of these CPU's with Win98SE? I do not want to upgrade to XP at this time.ThanksDavid

Im using WIN 98 SE and a P4 at 2.8GHZ and its no problem here at all!I never saw anything about this. Im running a Gigabyte GA-8IE with an Intel 845 chipset and a Radeon 9800.Hornit

Thanks for your replies. I just wanted check before spening money! I think that perhaps the reference was to original Win98, and not SE.David
