I have a 3 year old computer with a 2.6 gig CPU, 1 gig RAM and a geForce Ti4200 graphics card. Would I see a significant performance improvement if I were to upgrade the card to perhaps a geForce 6600GT? I fly primarily in VC mode and wondered if this would help my frame rates. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Is that a pentium or AMD? And how much ram do you have?As far as Vcard performance goes, I am sure the difference from a Ti4200 to a 6600GT is big. But you might also what to look for something better for not too much more money. Maybe in the 6800 family? Or ATI X800 family? I also think a 256 MB card should work better for FS than a 128mb card. That's why I am getting rid of my 6600GT.Jason

It's a Pentium 4 CPU and my current card has 128MB memory. I don't want to spend more than $200, and not even that if it won't improve my frame rates. In VC mode around busy airports I'm getting only 10-15 frames per second.

Hi Curt, I'm afraid you won't see a large difference when upgrading to a 6600-series card. Many technical details are very similar compared to your Ti. In general - and often forgotten - it depends most what kind of resolution you use. Here's a link to a site with technical details regarding Geforces: http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=88&pgno=1If you scroll down, you'll find a link to a similar list with Radeon specs. Hope this adds to thoughts, good luck and kind regards Jaap
