August 1, 200619 yr Hi,I'm a pretty PC savvy kind of guy, or at least I thought I was, but this has me stumped.Purchased a LaCie 250GB USB2 Ext HD. Installed the software, plugged it in. Bing-bong, new hardware found, blah-blah, your new hardware is ready for use.I open Window Explorer, no drive listed. Hmm, maybe it's not formatted. Open Disk Management, nope it's there as FAT32. I delete the partition, reformat as NTFS and create two partitions in case XP is being quirky and doesn't like the one big 232GB one.So we have -http://www.dmcity.com/uploads/LC1.gifIf I right click either drive I can open them fine -http://www.dmcity.com/uploads/LC2.gifBut, if I open Windows Explorer, neither drive is shown.http://www.dmcity.com/uploads/LC3.gifI've tried the obvious; trying different USB ports, reinstalling software, multiple reboots, kicking, cursing etc, but no joy.I can use the drive in a long winded, cut n paste fashion, but ideally I'd like to use it like any other drive and drag and drop to it from WE.System: Dell 8300, 3.2ghz, 2GB RAM, 9800 ProSuggestions anyone? - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
August 1, 200619 yr Moderator Hi Dean,You've probably thought of this but TweakUI has an option to hide selected drive letters. Might that be the reason?Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). August 1, 200619 yr Moderator Dean,Nevertheless it might be worthwhile installing it to see the state of your drive letters. Other than that I can only think it may be a Bios setting but as to which one...???Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
