Anyone using imagecfg.exe for affinity mask (dual core)?

Featured Replies

In the cmd line, to use CPU1 (2nd CPU), I have two versions of the switch:imagecfg -a 0x2imagecfg -a 2x1The first is from the web site http://www.robpol86.com/Pages/imagecfg.phpthe second from a post here some time ago that I had clipped to Notepad. In the post the author was describing how to run FS9 from CPU0 and AS6 from CPU1.Do both versions work- or is only one correct?Thanks- Bruce.

Hi Bruce,Not really answering your question, but I did the switch a while ago and wish I hadn't bothered. I find performance better with affinity set to both processors... so as I forget what I did to set it I need to manually reset affinity everytime I run FS.I just checked and it's 0x1 or 0x2 depending on which processor you want to asign. My problem is how to undo it.Cheers,Paul

Thanks for the switch info Paul.Looking at the doc I figure that you have to re-install the .exe file (FS9.exe). I'm not sure where it is on the CD's. Or you may have backed it up somewhere. I figure that if you're running FS9.1 then you couldn't back it up from the CD's.How did you determine worse performance with then affinity mask- just by measuring fps, or was it something else?Bruce.

No, just re-run imagecfg with a mask of 0, ie 0x0. That enables both (v)CPUs.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile
