LCD Widescreen monitors

I currently use a Viewsonic 19" 5:4 Pro series LCD monitor with excellent results and am considering upgrading to a a ViewSonic

Hi,It's a good monitor, however fs on widescreen to some people does not look right as the panel/gauges seem stretched looking oval instead of round, and second thing to think about. What GPU do you have to use it with?.

I've had my new Dell rig for a week, but I rather messed up my order. The standard flat-screen is widescreen, then I bought a 20" to go along side - but that's in 4:3. I can live with the slightly different aspect ratios in dual-screen mode, but the 2d cockpit looks squashed on the widescreen side and not much better in 4:3. If anyone has any tips on making the widescreen behave like 4:3 without vertical black lines, I'd be obliged. Guys I know fsx is not out yet but dont forget this tip for us widescreen users below is what pc-12 pilot posted many weeks ago. It's important to note that we have a FSX.CFG entry for wide aspect ratio monitors which defaults to "false" assuming the user has a 4:3 monitor. Change this setting to "true" for what I think is a better view when using a 16 or wider display. We didn't have time to get this control in the UI, so you will have to modify the cfg to get it done. This is the entry in the cfg:"WideViewAspect=True"More ramblings about Flight Simulator from behind the veil: http://blogs.technet.com/P-12C_Pilot/I really dont know what too say I love my widescreen but I belive that support for widescreen in the future will get better. I fly mostly in virtual cockpit mode so it doesnt effect me I also play battlefield 2 and games like everquest 2 and they show up fine and has a cinematic feel too it for me. And of course I also watch movies on my lcd so it really depends on what your going to use it for, but your gonna get a huge amount of opinions on which one is better, I know my post doesnt really say much but keep looking around and good luck too you Dan let us know how it went.

Cesar,Thanks for pointing this out. It looked fine before, but with widescreen changed to true it definitely looked better on my system. The change gave more of an impression of speed.Dave

I think that I'll stick with two 4:3 monitors side by side for now.
