Hi allI wouold like to build a Core 2 Duo system (probably a 6600 CPU for price reasons) - but I have a fairly recent ATI X800 (256 meg) vid card which is an AGP card. Hence I would need an AGP motherboard - any suggestions please? Thanks Barry

ASUS P5PE-VMBut...putting an AGP video card together with a nice CPU like that is really gonna underperform things where FS is concerned. I think you'd be better with an E6400 and a 7900 series nVidia card or ATI equivalent. PCIe makes a pretty big difference over AGP, especially when you're buying a new CPU that can push it.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile

AGP bandwidth is not the issue. I would highly reccomend that you get a motherboad that supports better RAM and pcie. The reality is that the new chips would be held way back by the X800, and FSX will use up as much video memeory as you can give it. Sometimes even 256mb seems like too little.New very good video cards with pcie can be had for under $200 (the x1950pro 256 comes to mind)But I appreciate the eternal budget struggle :) I'm running an almost 4 year old PC now on socket 754!The e6600 is scheduled for a price drop in 2q07. I think due to new chip intros and quad core becoming available in quantity. Most of us will not benefit form quad core, but it is socket compatible with dual cores.
