4:3 aspect ratio for LCDs

Featured Replies

I have an old 4:3 aspect ratio CRT. I would like to replace it with an LCD monitor. The problem is that most LCDs come in 1280x1024 resolution. This makes circular gauges designed for 4:3 aspect ratio oval (not much - but still noticeable).I have come accross only one LCD monitor that has a 4:3 ratio. Unfortunately it supports 1400x1050 which somehow I cannot get FS9 to display. FSX can display it but I am not interested in it at the moment.Any tips on how to deal with this issue ?Thanks

>Any tips on how to deal with this issue ?Easy!Seek a monitor that displays 1600x1200. :) I'm now running the Samsung 204B - good stuff!-Greg

I recall reading about a .cfg setting called WideViewAspect=True. Default is False. Might give it a try. Maybe someone else can post with a beter explanation.I just did a Google search for WideViewAspect=True and here is one hit:http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/...ght_Simulator_XRichard

Thanks for the reply folks. I got the people at Best Buy to let me try out a Samsung SyncMaster 203B. After uninstalling and reinstalling all ATI software the sweet spot resolution (1400x1050)appeared in the list of available resolutions. :-)Not too much of a loss coming down from 1600x1200 but the better contrast and sharpness more than make up for this. I am happy. The 1600x1200 would probably be even better but it might be a tad too expensive for me.Thanks again for the input Gents.

Always remember that guages in FS are just windows that can be resized - i.e. mine are perfectly circular on a wide screen resolution.
