November 28, 200223 yr hiin version 1.5 fs2002 stopps several seconds when activesky is updating.is this fixed in the new version?thanks
December 1, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi,Performance is enhanced in ActiveSky wxRE by using synchronous data downloads. However, (and this applies to v1.5 as well) slow computers may be sluggish while processing lots of information (i.e. winds aloft updates). The solution is to set your FD winds aloft update interval higher so it does not update as often, but still within acceptable timeliness to catch any NOAA updates (I suggest 99 minutes). You will need to REFRESH your winds aloft data after changing airports via FS.I have also heard that v 2.93 of FSUIPC had some slowness issues. Make sure you are using the latest 2.94.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxresmallbanner.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 1, 200223 yr Hello Damian,I have ActiveSky 1.5 running on both my laptop and pc. I only have stuttering on my laptop. The relevant specs:laptop: Asus L3800s, P4 2.0GHz, Intel845MP mobo, 512MB, 32MB ATI 7500 video, 40GB disk, WindowsXP Pro UK fully updated incl SP1, DX8.1, FSUIPC 2.94, FS2002pc: own made, AMD XP 1800+, Asus Via KT266A mobo, 512 MB, 64MB Nvidia GeForce2 Pro, 60GB, Windows98SE fully updated, DX 8.1, FSUIPC 2.94, FS2002Settings etc. are similar on both machines. I would say that it's not performance related in my case...FSMeteo is running fine on bnoth machines without stuttering.
December 2, 200223 yr Commercial Member Interesting! I could use a little more info to try and troubleshoot this... What exactly is stuttering on the laptop? Frame rates, whole system, message text bar? Please e-mail me @ . Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxresmallbanner.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 2, 200223 yr Hi Damian,I had some stuttering also. I ran some tests. I installed activesky on my main FS computer, activated the internet connection (dial up), also on my main fs computer, and I did get stuttering as activesky updated, specifically downloading winds aloft. The stuttering was like my fps had gone to 2. Didn't last very long. Then I moved activesky to my second computer, used the dial up connection on that computer, and ran activesky using wide fs and my lan. No stuttering, it worked perfectly.I was using fsmeteo and have ran tests with it also. With everything on the main computer, fsmeteo did not stutter, but did reduce my fps by about 10fps, and it didn't matter whether it was downloading or not. The fps rate reduction was constant. Also, the fsmeteo wx guage is a significant fps reduction.Running fsmeteo on my lan, was smooth, no fps reduction, except for the wx guage, which still had a significant fps reduction.Overall, I find that activesky runs smoother, no apparent loss of fps at all running on the lan.Hope this helps.Larryhttp://www.jdtllc.com/images/RCbeta.jpg
December 3, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi Larry and all,I also am aware of an issue with older detonator video drivers. If you are using these, I suggest updating to the latest version to see if this improves things.-DamianP.S. Agreed the WideFS route is a great way to go especially if you have lots of add-ons and demand absolute performance out of FS at all times!

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxresmallbanner.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
