November 30, 200223 yr How does ActiveSky wxRE compare to FSMeteo? I like the wake turbulence but I regularly fly to aircraft carriers and FSMeteo has micro climates to align the wind to match ArrestorCables carriers. I'm trying to decide which program to purchase.
December 1, 200223 yr Commercial Member Perhaps?! What are micro climates? How do they work? Sounds like manual setting of weather for certain areas, which can be done using features already built into ActiveSky wxRE (namely, the custom write weather option and ability to build you own METAR stations and offline/preset weather data). Hope that helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxresmallbanner.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 1, 200223 yr I would too like to see micro-climates in wxRE. Micro-climates are a FSMeteo term for mini weather areas around all aircraft carriers in FS2002 (including the Waikato if I'm right). In these mini areas the wind is set according to the approach course of the carriers landing deck. This is done regardless of the actual METAR wind direction. Hope it is clear now. Although you say it is possible to manualy set the weather in wxRE, it would still be handy to automatically have the correct wind direction around aircraft carriers.
December 2, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi, can someone supply me with a list of carriers you want this to apply to with their lat/lon coords? If so I will do something a little better for more realistic carrier winds :)-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxresmallbanner.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 2, 200223 yr Here's a link to the Arrestor Cables sitehttp://www.speakeasy.org/%7Erhogen/arrestorcables.htmAll the carriers are there except the default ones in FS.From time to time we put our own carriers in different locations. It would be nice to have a simple way to enter the lat & long to create a new micro-climate. By the way, everything except the wind direction within the micro-climate is the same in FSMeteo. This way is appears seamless with the surrounding weather. Thanks for your help. If you can do this you're going to get many more fans!
