Wake turbulence

Featured Replies

Hi,I have just tested the Wake turbulence effect by departing straight after an AI B777...BUT..there was no turbulence..!! :'(Despite having the option set in the program, I did not encounter any such turbulence at all.Has anyone else tried out this option to see if it does work..?ThanksDK

Hi,Please try testing again but realize that the wake turbulence is very conditional and random based on MANY factors including the lift being produced by the aircraft generating the wake... More lift (landing stage) = more wake. You will also not ALWAYS get extreme noticeable wake turbulence - there are random factors here too. If you want to 'test' this feature I suggest going to a very busy airport and flying around in the pattern doing touch and goes for awhile in a small aircraft :) Remember the most wake danger is from a large landing aircraft..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Hi Damian,Thanks for the quick reply..I did test with the default cessna at EGLL with ATC at 100%. I thought that it would flip the Cessna over :-lolAnyway, as you say I will test further by flying a few patterns and see what turns up... or over ;)Thanks againDK

I got it off a DHL 727 on departure. I was in a super cub very impressive and violent.

Perhaps too strong when trailing another small plane though. I was in a Cessna 150 and followed a C172 about 1.3 miles behind for landing. Caught his wake and it broke my plane apart. I've never had this happen in real life! Is there a way to reduce the effect based on the type of plane? Scott

Hehe, that just made me laugh. Don't know why, just caught me off gaurd and I got quite a chuckle from it. Thanks! :DRegards,Dan Zollnerhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg
