December 29, 200223 yr I've seen in this forum problems with ActiveSky and Radar Contact regarding ATIS reporting winds aloft as ground winds. I'm experiencing the same problem, but I don't have Radar Contact installed. The add-ons I've are ActiveSky, FSNav, and My Traffic. In my last two flights, ATC cleared me for a visual approach on an IRS clearance, even though the Wx conditions dictated an ILS approach. Don't know if this is related to the issue. December 29, 200223 yr How far out from your destination are you before checking the wx?Do you have force destination, set? If so at what distance?
December 30, 200223 yr Author Usually check the Wx within 40nm of the destination. Force destination is checked with the default distance of 60nm. Last night, I was flying from KLGA to KBOS. Destination Wx was KBOS 291954Z 29013KT 10SM BKN060 04/M04 A2995 RMK AO2 SLP140Yet I was told to expect vectors for 4R. As I was handed to tower about 4 miles from touchdown, Tower said to make a left downwind approach to runway 22. It's like Tower controller is the only one aware of surface winds, all others before Tower are going on winds aloft. I have FSUIPC 2.95 using the .ini file that came with ActiveSky.
