January 18, 200323 yr Commercial Member Go get it from http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/downloads.htmYou may need to refresh your browser once the ActiveSky page loads. Here is a list of changes:Revisions to v1.1 (from v1.0)- Added automatic combination of offline METAR cycles (current + 1 hour past) for more complete METAR coverage during offline use or FSFlightMax export mode.- Added enhanced Radar Contact 3 integration for proper arrival weather reports via RC3 (must use RCv3.01 or later, due 1/20/03)- Added enhanced FSFlightMax integration for better radar returns - Must use FSFlightMax v1.4 or later). Also solved problem with no echoes in certain situations and outdated METAR data.- Added proxy server support and optional Proxy Server Address field in options- Fixed TAF processing bug that would cause syntax errors and/or problematic weather representation in FS- Fixed zero visibility problem where vis would go to 10 miles or more when 0 vis reported- Fixed problem where overcast layer would disappear occasionally when climbing above it (make sure you have the latest ADVDISP if you use it, from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html).- Added support of "Less than 1/4SM" vis (M1/4SM)Work continues for v1.2, which will include full international winds aloft and some other new features which will be announced soon! Thanks to the beta team for a great job getting this tested out, and thanks to all our users for their support!!!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 18, 200323 yr Damian,Nice work, have you solved the problem of having to first clear all weather in the FS2002 weather dialog prior to loading ActiveSky 1.1 weather?CheersBob
January 18, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Bob,This is a limitation of the way an external weather interface (with dynamic changes) interacts with FS2002. It has to always be clear for the weather to set correctly without conflicts, etc... not much way around this, but I will continue to try to make improvements in the interaction process. Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 18, 200323 yr HiI downloaded ActiveSkywxRE 1.1 upgrade, but the setup program tells me that I require a valid installation to install the upgrade. I have purchased and installed a valid copy of version 1.0 that I constantly use, so I'm not sure what the problem is.The setup program does not ask for the location of the ActiveskywxRE directory, but I've unzipped the setup program to that folder.Any idea why it doesn't let me upgrade ?
January 18, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Hi,There have been several reports of this, the reason always being that v1.5 FREEWARE was installed not the actual wxRE payware v1.0!!! Please confirm you have your valid wxRE v1.0 installed and wxre.exe present in your activesky wxre folder.. Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 18, 200323 yr Hi Damian,I`ve installed the payware-version 1.0 and get the same error-message.Karl
January 18, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Karl,What is your destination folder for Activesky wxRE? If it is more than 3 sublevels deep, this may be the problem.. the solution is to copy wxre.exe into a more up-level folder (try c:) then install the update, it should work.. thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 18, 200323 yr Son of a gun! I completely forgot about this and haven't cleared the wx since about Day 3 with this program.:-lol Always seems to work, but maybe I'm getting little quirks that I'm not noticing. I'll start clearing the wx first and see what happens :-).Glenn
January 19, 200323 yr hi!i had exactly the same problem, my wxre installation is 4 levels deep. i copied wxre.exe to the 3rd level and it worked just fine.an idea for future versions would be to set up a registry key pointing to the installation directory, which imho is a much better way to look for a program.cheers, pedro
January 19, 200323 yr Hello Damian,I've downloaded the update and now get radar returns in FlightMax that match the weather reported in the ActiveSky interface. Wonderful!I regret that I do have one problem, however. During one of my test flights (using VATSIM weather) I departed O'hare with visibility reported as "P6SM". From my understanding, P means Plus -- therefore, this report should mean "more than 6 statute miles," correct? Well, this certainly was not the case as I could barely see 500 feet in any direction. Unfortunately, I encountered the same conditions at Detroit Metro, and was unable to land as a result.Am I misinterpreting the meaning (of "P6SM"), or is ActiveSky wxRE?~ AndyP.S. Thanks for all of your hard work. I never fly without ActiveSky wxRE anymore!
January 19, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Andy,I'll look into this, it may be a bug..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
January 19, 200323 yr Damian,I too am getting surface visibilities of 0 when using Activesky 1.1. Current station METARs are indicating SKC and visibility 10SM when this is occuring. With my system I've traced the culprit to FSIUPC's graduated visiblity setting - with it checked I receive 0 visibility until the aircraft is climbed or slewed above the first aloft graduation setting. Also, visibility seems to slip off only after the first TAF interpolation sequence (METAR update cycle offline) but I'm not super sure about this yet. I seem to recall the initial SA update from downloaded METAR data not causing the problem right off. As an example, if I have graduated visibility aloft setting in FSIUPC beginning at 9000ft, I will be in 0 visibility until passing through 9001ft and above, ect., after which I encounter normal vis settings. The visibility issue is occuring at every airport with my installation of AS 1.1 Again, deselecting graduated visibility in FSIUPC and/or setting both the first two altitude values here to 0 seems to clear up the problem somewhat. I've reinstalled ver 1.0 and the problem has gone away :)I need to be a Beta tester, lol. If there is a slight quirk or even hints of a quirk, I'll sniff it out. I appreciated your comments from my earlier post, good luck on your continued development of this product - should be a lot fun to tweak and enhance.
January 19, 200323 yr Thanks Damian, this is great news for all of us addicted to your great product. Do you have any approximate news on V1.2. - I don't wanna sound impatient, but I misunderstood (my own fault!) and thought winds aloft worldwide would be in 1.1..... I went and got my hopes up too high! (lol)Just an approximate idea would be great - are we talking weeks or months or something else? Thanks again Damian, and please don't think I'm ungrateful because I'm not! You're doing a great job....Cheers,Tom
