Problem with not sync'ing to system time

Featured Replies

Right now I prefer to change the game to a custom time and have MSFS2K2 General Options set to Flight Time, not System Time, and have unchecked the box in ActiveSky that synchronizes with System Time. When I arrive at my departure airport, the METAR is for the time I set in MSFS2K2. That's fine. When the first ActiveSky weather update comes, however, it reverts to Zulu system time so the weather changes are drastic and my METAR times do not match my flight times. Hi Boyd,Sounds like some slight confusion on the wxRE "Use System Time" option. When you are using ONLINE mode and have TAF processing enabled, you should always Use System Time, to keep the online live METAR reports synched to the processor. If, however, you wish to use the actual weather from the different FS time you are using, then you are correct to UNCHECK the Use System Time but you should be using an OFFLINE cycle set that is appropriate for the FS time you are flying in. Otherwise TAF processing is going to kick in for the FS time, which is not accurate with your live ONLINE METAR/TAF times. Hope that makes sense!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

I guess I need to download a new offline file each time I fly so that I have that day's real world weather. Right? Exactly what do I need to do to simulate weather, from say, 8 Zulu hours ago?Boyd BarkerSenior Command CaptainKBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlineshttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/DFexperience.jpghttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/checklist.htmlMy DF737 Around the World Adventure: http://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/aroundtheworld.html

On that subject, if I am in OFFline, does ActiveSky care about the date? Or if flightsim time (or system time as appropriate) > the cycle in use does it assume it is the same day as the METARs, and maybe if the time is < cycle time, assume there was a 2400 day rollover? The idea being if I create 24 offline cycle files I can then just select the one nearest to the time my flightsim will be using?scott s..

Hi Boyd,You'll want that cycle download from 8 hours ago, for offline mode, with TAF processing enabled and Use System Time UNCHECKED. FS Time should be set to 8 hours ago as well.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

Hi Scott,Date is ignored, assumed date is the same across all. After 24 hours it rolls over.Yep, you can just select the closest one of those cycles for whatever FS time you are using and you'll get proper processing for that time..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table
