February 9, 200323 yr Hi DamianJust wondered how v1.2 is progessing? Will international winds aloft be implemented & do u have an ETA for the release?
February 9, 200323 yr I don't want to be pushy - this is a good product without anything more, but I'm in the middle of a transatlantic flight, and although I took the time to plan my route with the jetstreams, I'm still enjoying a tailwind (although I'm flying east to west) because of a WX report at EINN - some 500nm away! :)Again, I'm not complaining, but it would be really good to get international winds aloft. :) - An approximate ETA would be great. Thanks,Tom
February 10, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi, I am getting things done as quickly as possible - some major new features are going in and it should be done very soon (when it is ready!). Perhaps a week?-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 13, 200323 yr Hi Damian.I downloaded your wxRE and it's quite fantastic and I do wait eagerly your next release with the ability to deal with worldwide winds aloft, that's the only glitch in your otherwise excellent work.I just noted one anomaly after installing the wxRE: if tuning an FS2002 ATIS with rain or snow or thunderstorm repoted, now the FS2002 ATIS does NOT report rain or snow or TS either in the text message or in the voice message. Is there anything to be done to correct this problem ?Many thanks for an help if you're not too busy in testing next release.Enrico.
February 13, 200323 yr Are you sure you are giving ATC enough time to recognize the new weather conditions? Sometimes it can take up to 5 minutes for information to get updated.
February 14, 200323 yr The problem with no rain/snow/TS reported on FS2002 ATIS is there when I've the Active wxRE off, too. It seems that in some way the precip information on the FS2002 ATIS are "masked" or "erased" after installing wxRE. This is not a big problem, however. The fantastic way wxRE handles a global dybamic weather is much more interesting !Thanks.Enrico
February 14, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Enrico,Not sure how wxRE's installation can affect FS2002's ATIS engine at all, especially when wxRE is not even active. If the weather is correct in FS and ATIS is incorrectly reporting it then there is some other kind of issue. Perhaps it is related to some FSUIPC options you have set? I suggest backing up your fsuipc.ini file and using the one included with wxRE temporarily to see if the problem goes away? Let me know.. thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 17, 200323 yr Hi Damian !Many thanks for your suggestions, I'll try asap and I'll let you know. I tried wxRE in association with FS Sky World SE and it works pretty nice (albeit sometimes the ground turns a strange deep blue for a while - note that I was not using virtual sky - and I fixed this by switching momentarily from full screen to normal and back and it works). I tried to put some international winds by inserting in the fswinds.txt some European location (eg LON, FRA, PAR) with their coordinates and then adding manually the winds taken from the wx charts at different altitudes (plus some my "creation" when I hadn't sufficient data...)...and it works nice ! I got my winds flying from Munich to Heathrow and back, plus all the METARS and the dynamic changes...It's wonderful, except for the lengthy and annoying task of manually inputting wind data. I hope that your effort to implement international winds will be simpler for the final user !Just one last thing: I got very severe wake turbulence on landing with a PSS A321 about 4 to 5 miles behind a 737 with light winds...My wind vector remained steady at 6 knots but the airplane went gyrating wildly...Any suggestion ?Many thanks for everything, expecially for your wxRE that's absolutely terrific !Enrico
February 19, 200323 yr I've noticed that "deep blue" effect myself, and I also don't use VSky effect.Does someone know why this is happening?gwillmot
February 20, 200323 yr Hello Enrico,Have you changed the "TurbulenceScale" setting in your FS2002.cfg file to .2 as suggested in the installation instructions? The default setting (1.000) has been determined to be way too high to be realistic, and it may have exaggerated the wake turbulence you encountered...~ Andy SutterMA825/KSFO (Meridian VA)kZAU ARTCC
February 21, 200323 yr Hi Andy.Mmmmmh, I checked everything, but maybe I missed just this. I'll look at the .cfg file and see what's showing. If it's just that, OK, and many thanks. I was really caught off balance getting so a heavy turbulence 4 miles behind a 737, I just manged to keep the A321 in the air ! Quite a shaking in the last 500 or so feet and no turbulence below 100. Thanks for your suggestion.Enrico.
February 21, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi, To be sure you don't have V-sky, download the disabling V-sky files, it will reinstall the cirrus overcast available here:http://fsw.simflight.com/FSkySe.htmlThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
