No visibility 2

Featured Replies

Hi DamienI am running ASWXRE 1.15 (full version) and fs2k2. I am having the same problem as was referred to in a previous thread (No visibility) where despite the nearest metar showing 30KM as the visibility, AS WXRE has wound the visibility down to 0 (1/8).Attached are some screenshots...

sorry bout thatHere`s the other screenshot....Any advice gratefully receivedRegardsJim Cross

Jim,I am not an expert, but am a tester for wxRE. Look real close at the downloaded METAR. The vis entry is the 30km value. As far as I know, from testing, is wxRE only reads SM values. I say this because on the Status screen METAR visibility is set to zero. I just went to your airport, got a 50km vis and my screen looks like yours. I think we need to wait for wxRE to translate KM vis values.Hope this helps.

Hi JSkornaThanks for your reply. You may well be right as I have no problems at all with metars that are given in SM.Is this something that is going to change soon - version 2 maybe??CheersJim

I sure hope so. And don't forget that viz doesn't have to be either SM or KM either, it can be just a number in meters too (usually 9999 meaning unlimited).For example, current METAR for Schiphol according to the weather agency website reads METAR EHAM 130755Z 07004KT 040V100 5000 HZ NSC M03/M05 Q1030 NOSIG=That translates into 5KM visibility with haze (what's NSC mean?).

NSC = No Significant Clouds/olle

NSC = No significant change

The thing is, the visibility works fine when expressed in metres. Today NZWN is 7000 in rain and that is being impressively well simulated by AS WXRE. Miles works fine as well (Dc-10 into KLGB in 3miles vis).It is just KM`s that it cannot resolve.Any chance of a comment from the "horse`s mouth" Damien?TaJim

Hi Jim I am looking into this, it looks like something introduced recently as it definitely works ok in v1.0. It will be fixed. I had a feeling it wasn`t there in V1. I may regress for the time being as New Zealand visibilities are generally in KM`s Thanks Damien - I`ll look forward to the update regardsjim

On that note, Damien. Is there a chance of getting hold of the V1.0 executable in order that I can regress back? If i email my order number and email details to your [email protected] address would this be possible?ThanksJim Cross
