Anyone alse having problems with receiving the winds aloft portion of the download (offline) today? (Fri, 3/14)This is the first time I tried v1.6 and I'm getting only METAR and TAF.Glenn Willmot

Hi Glenn, please see the readme.txt file... I have tried to address this issue but a certain user keeps flaming the thread and the threads have all been removed.. hopefully this one keeps civilized..Offline winds aloft source is not available with the existing v1.6 source, so offline winds are now simulated always. The nature of the new winds source requires an ONLINE connection. Now several users have written me expressing that they really need to have offline winds aloft because of the way they fly (plan, download, disconnect, and fly). One user was kind enough to share a possible new source for compiling offline winds downloads (there was none available as of 1.6 release). I am working on this now and so far it seems like it will work. If it ends up ok I should be able to have a v1.7 with offline winds aloft available within a couple weeks. Please ignore any posts from "Ramius266", he will undoubtedly be flaming me (and others) in this thread but I will monitor and delete these posts as they come up.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table

I'm not sure if it's a server problem, but I get the following error message "Bad Aloft Data/Timeout...Retrying next update interval..."I'm running in online mode and have tried different airports with the same error coming up. All other weather info is OK. Just no winds aloft.

rbm,Looks like a server problem to me. Have you had good luck until now?List me some airports and I'll try them out.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Jim, I get the same thing as well. Next time I do, I will list the wmo ID number for you here.
